Reviews for Hotel Grand Chancellor Hobart

We had a city facing room which was fine. On each floor there was a corner lounge overlooking the harbour which was a great feature. Pool was fine. Just one night for us and overall would stay again. I’d suggest an upgrade to the gym equipment. Bit cheap and out of date. Service was fine but when guests arrive and there’s three staff, you’re the only guests checking in, and none look up, I never find that a great welcome. Suggestion is, look up, greet, and say I’ll be with you in a moment. The little things make a difference.

Hotel Grand Chancellor Hobart is just an excellent hotel. I have been staying in hotels most of my working life, around Australia and some of the world. The thing I love about HGC is the "old school" approach. Polite service people, super clean, lots of freebies and extras, great food, nice views. Everything you expect from an establishment of this kind is there. From the free filtered water coolers on every floor, to the complimentary bikes, you just feel like you are staying in a place that understands the business they are in. When my work sends me to Hobart, this is where I stay every time.

We had an awesome stay at the Grand Chancellor! The location is spot on - right by the harbour and an easy walk to Salamanca and Battery Point. The staff were super friendly and helpful, and a big shout out to Julie who made us feel really welcome. Our room was clean, spacious, and had an amazing view of the harbour. Would definitely stay here again! Thank you Anne H

What a fantastic stay we had at the Grand Chancellor Hobart! From the moment we walked in, the staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful, making us feel right at home. The room was beautiful, with a stunning view of the harbor that we couldn't get enough of. It was clean, spacious, and had everything we needed to be comfortable. The location is perfect for exploring Hobart. We could easily walk to Salamanca Market, the wharf, and all the great restaurants and cafes nearby. After a day of sightseeing, the hotel's amenities, especially the pool, were a real treat. This hotel truly made our trip to Hobart special. We can't wait to come back and stay here again!

A Most Splendid Stay at the Grand Chancellor, Hobart There are few pleasures in travel more civilised than arriving at a hotel that understands how to offer not just accommodation but a genuine welcome. From the moment we stepped through the doors of the Grand Chancellor in Hobart, there was a quiet sense of everything having been thoughtfully arranged. One rarely expects to feel anticipated, yet that was precisely the impression conveyed, not through grand gestures, but through a kind of effortless readiness that spoke volumes. The concierge team deserves particular mention. Every member we encountered displayed that uncommon blend of attentiveness and restraint, offering assistance in a manner that was helpful without ever feeling intrusive. There was no flurry or performance, simply a well practised rhythm that made us feel entirely at ease. Throughout our stay, the atmosphere remained consistently warm and composed. Interactions with the team were genuine, marked by a kind of understated courtesy that is all too rare. Whether passing through the lobby or pausing at the desk, we were always met with a sense of calm competence. The staff did not merely perform their roles; they embodied them, creating an environment in which we could truly relax. When the time came to leave (always a wistful moment at the end of a thoroughly enjoyable stay) the same high standard of care was evident once again, and we left feeling not just well looked after, but genuinely valued. In every respect, our time at the Grand Chancellor in Hobart was a quiet triumph of hospitality. It is a place that understands how to make one feel welcome without spectacle, and how to deliver comfort without pretence. We departed with a quiet appreciation for all that had been done, most of it so seamlessly that we hardly noticed until we stopped to reflect.
