My recent stay at Mantra was nothing short of amazing! The location is incredibly convenient, making it easy to explore nearby attractions. The cleanliness of the hotel is top-notch, which made me feel right at home. The staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive, always ready to help with a smile. I particularly enjoyed the breakfast, which offered a delightful variety of options that catered to all tastes. Overall, my experience at Mantra was fantastic, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and enjoyable stay!

The only thing that saves this hotel is its location. It's advertised as 4 star, it very much is 3 in my opinion. Unsure if all (??) the staff members are new at the same time, but no one knows what's going on, ever. My husband had to constantly repeat things throughout our 3 night stay. Eg every single morning we had to remind the restaurant staff (same as reception) we had breakfast including with our stay. Then spend 5 minutes waiting whilst they looked on their list. Reception didn't give us our welcome wine on arrival until we requested it. They continued to tell us our parking wasn't included (it was, we had confirmation) The rooms were large (we had studio apartment) but I wouldn't say overly clean - hair in our bathtub, beds felt very grainy and there is no fan at all in the bathroom which I found odd, it seems to have been cut out? There was a mismatched painted area. The buffet breakfast was also very average - and the fresh yogurts always had a funny taste. Don't think it was worth the money at all & I don't think we would stay again.

Very happy with our stay here for 7 nights. The staff were very helpful and courteous. Stayed in a one bedroom studio with a balcony. We chose this apartment type because it had a kitchenette and listed amongst the many other amenities a "washing machine " however as advertised there was no washing machine, which was a little disappointing but in no way a deal breaker. The staff very kindly offered another room to do our washing but we happily accepted an air dryer stand. The only other issue with the otherwise perfect room was there is no actual stand alone table to sit at to eat meals! We will stay here again as it's location on Russell st is perfect with a multitude of shops and theatres and so many restaurants and bars you will struggle to make a choice.

Great location close to trams, shopping centres, supermarkets and lots of eateries right outside the doorstep. Communication with the hotel prior to checking in was easy with no waiting time on the phone. Thank you to Angelo at the front desk for such an easy check in/out. He is friendly, professional and very efficient. We were lucky to be able to check in early due to room availability. They also provide luggage storage if required and everything is done with a smile :) Room was quiet even though it is on a busy street. Kitchenette is well equipped with kettle, toaster, microwave, plates, cutlery etc… The lobby area has quite a few power points for charging devices, just remember to have the actual charger and not just the cable. We only stayed for one night but will be back next time we are in Melbourne.

Absolutely disappointing experience – poor management, unacceptable attitude. I strongly advise future guests to reconsider staying at this hotel. I had one of the worst experiences with hotel management I’ve ever encountered. The issue started with a plumbing failure in the bathroom – a fault entirely caused by the hotel itself. Their only proposed solution was to force me to change rooms, despite the fact that I had already stayed for 3 nights, had 4 large suitcases, and was checking out the next day. I explained clearly that I wasn’t refusing to cooperate — I simply wanted to avoid repacking everything just for one last night. It took significant effort to even get in contact with the hotel manager. Once he finally responded, he offered a compromise: I could use a new room on the same floor to shower and sleep, but leave my belongings in the original room. I agreed to this solution as it worked for my situation. However, just before ending the call, the manager made highly inappropriate and borderline threatening remarks: 1. He warned that if I didn’t move rooms, I would be personally charged for the water damage — despite the fact that the plumbing issue originated from the hotel. 2. He added that if I didn’t follow his orders, the hotel would cancel my booking entirely — essentially kicking me out. 3. When I went down to speak in person, his body language was dismissive, and he showed zero concern or respect for the customer experience. The level of arrogance and lack of professionalism was shocking. No guest should be treated this way, especially by someone in a managerial position. If this is how hotel leadership treats paying customers, I would strongly question their commitment to hospitality. Avoid this hotel if you expect even basic respect and fair treatment. I do not recommend staying here under any circumstances.
