The Dorsett Melbourne hotel accommodation is brilliantly located in quiet corner of the square with The Ritz-Carlton, just opposite Spencer Street station and shopping outlet centre. A modern touch and a feel consistent with their other locations helped ensure I was pleased with my recent stay, albeit randomly in an accessibility suite that could not be transferred to another room as the hotel was fully booked by a work group. No shortage of pillows with a comfortable mattress (but loud crinkly mattress topper), a good sized TV and excellent privacy block out curtains that overlapped to ensure light didn’t sneak in. Lovely touches in the lobby with a fancy drinks vending machine as well as some arcade games. Plenty of seating to help coordinate your days plans or to use while waiting for the lifts that do tend to run a little slow – a small but important to note blemish on my recent visit.

Well a hotel that claims to be 4 stars, yet customer service isn’t anywhere near. First off order room service good comes in polystyrene containers is it Macca or Uber eats no it’s supposed to be a 4 star hotel. Ordered a Corona to go with it but guess what no bottle opener in the bag so call Reception. Yes it will be right up wait 20 Minutes nothing so call again another 20 min goes guy at door with one says ahem can you open your beer and give us it back we only have one?????? Remember it’s a 4 star hotel. Next will have a shower no body wash in container. Next bed is fine but the worse pillows I’ve ever encountered in a hotel they are long massive and crap. Breakfast next day I order an omelette it has to be the smallest one I’ve ever had was like the size of a small pancake. Wife ordered poached eggs which were hard boiled. Toilet seat was loose as well. So then Emailed them to make valid complaints and the Duty manager goes yeah sorry about that I will talk to the team. Like no follow up no offer of a discount or anything at all. This HOTEL needs downgraded to a 2-3 Star if it’s lucky avoid at all costs

My review is for accommodation and events. My Director asked me to book the Dorsett Melbourne for our event and for her to stay the night prior, as she had already experienced a wonderful event here. We weren't disappointed. The accommodation was "lovely" as described by my Director and our event was managed beautifully by the team from start to finish. Our guests were very impressed and the day was a huge success. Thank you, Dorsett Melbourne, we're ready to book with you again!

A good 10 minute walk to all the shopping and great food around. Location was superb as it’s accessible by train/tram. Rooms were spacious and clean, housekeeping was top notch as well. Staff service was amazing, they offered to bring us up to gym floor to freshen up as we arrived on a red eye flight before we could check in. Special shoutout to Hank for ensuring we are at our utmost comfort right till the second we depart the hotel.

I stayed at the Dorsett for two nights with my wife for her birthday as part of a city break, Overall, most things were ok including breakfast, the room and the facilities. What really spoilt it was the Club, which we paid a lot of extra money for. Our experience, when using Club rooms with other hotels, is all about having an extra treat, that extra V.I.P kind of treatment. The Club room at the Dorsett was the worst one we have ever experienced and here is why. The first night, there were no evening canapés as promised, just a few small pieces of cheese and meat, supported my a few packets of Smiths chips and salted nuts. I ate nothing and my wife had a few pickings. The wine bottles were almost empty and we were in there early, so it seemed like they had brought up the remaining leftovers from the bar. There were no spirits at all and no red wine so we both just had water. There were no hotel staff members in there either, which was unusual for a club. As we were about leave a staff member came in and we asked her where the canopies and drinks were and she said that that was it but she did to go to get some wine, but we left. The second night was worse and they only a few plates and a small amount of cutlery. The other guests were getting annoyed because they had no plates and forks so we gave them my fork and we all shared. There was so much frustration that I went down to reception myself to get some plates and cutlery and was assisted by a staff member. We walked together in to the bar and an upstairs room, hunting for these basic items; it was an absolute joke. We know of a couple in the club room who complained to the manager, but not sure what happened. We basically feel like we were scammed and deserve some compensation after being conned into paying for a club access room, but we know nothing will happen because they have had our money now and don't care. On my return, I emailed the hotel but have had no response as predicted. I wanted to discuss this issue with the Dorsett manager before leaving reviews but they obviously do not value their customers. Very disappointing indeed.
