Special shout out to Holly (and also Ben). So professional and really went the extra mile to ensure everyone was having the best possible time. Thanks

We did the Gold dinner cruise. The food was spectacular and so delicious. Even though the weather was torrential rain the sights of the city from the harbour were still beautiful. Of note was our waitress, Angie. She was so attentive and a pleasure to talk to. Angie is definitely an exemplary crew member. The gentleman who provided the evenings entertainment was also a pleasure to listen to. Beautiful sound and a warm professional approach. Will be recommending this experience to others.

I was pleasantly surprised to receive a upgraded for free from the captain cook cruises to the Jackson Super Yacht I must say the boat is very impressive..But unfortunately I can't say the same for the food the champagne was flat the spacing out of servings of the first entrees were at all different times which was very anoring as some of my guest had already finished eating there first serve and other guest were still waiting for there food.. The meals were not what I was expecting the pasta was served cold, the steak was also cold the salad was okay but lacked substance..No coffee or tea with our desserts wasnt even offered..The birthday cake i supplied the wait staff cut up way to small all my guest were disappointed with there plate serving..The boat 10 out of 10 the view on the night spectacular but the food unfortunately a 2 out of 10 for me..Not impress

There is no doubt that The Jackson is a beautiful cruiser. Unfortunately, my experience of being on board at the start of the Sydney-Hobart Yacht Race was far from meeting up to the expectations you might have of such a vessel. Our tickets clearly showed a departure time of 10.45am. However, when we arrived at 10.15am we saw the vessel having just departed the wharf. With some assistance from staff from an adjacent vessel, we were told to take a taxi to the Cruising Yacht Club and hence a tender from there to The Jackson. On board The Jackson we were directed to the downstairs area, where there was no seating available and it was quite crowded. For a ticket cost of close to $400 the quality of the wine and the choice of other drinks was deplorable, while the snack food was quite pleasant though largely deep fried. As an 80 year old it was necessary to stand for the whole 3-4 hours of the voyage. In regards to viewing the race, there was very little visibility from the inside cabin of the lower deck and the small area of the outside deck was extremely crowded. My main disappointment was on reporting this to the company, they sent a polite reply thanking me for the feedback and looking forward to avoiding similar confusion in the future. I have no confidence this would be the case and I certainly would not be going back. It was disappointing that not only did they not offer an apology nor even an offer to pay the additional taxi fares associated with catching the vessel. Platitudes but no depth of of care. Attached photo of the view a little before the race start.

Wow what a difference a year makes – sadly, this year’s Vivid Dinner Cruise on Saturday 8th June did not live up to last year’s brilliant experience. The pressure and cost savings within the hospitality industry were obvious as the excitement, energy, service, and spectacle were all lacking. This was also evident with the reduced guests dining on the night. Compared to last year, there was no roving entertainment nor canapes as we boarded The Jackson (the Vivid themed neon entertainers were absolutely amazing) and this set a fantastic tone for the evening - instead we were ushered to our seats upon embarking with plated canapes. Opportunities to experience the Vivid lights and our absolutely magnificent harbour in perfect weather were limited. Your schedule which appeared to be well out of whack captured us inside seated and ultimately missing the Vivid extravaganza and the excitement of the panoramic departure from King St Wharf. As we were seated we did let the waitstaff know that we would be popping up to see the night spectacular and we were advised that entrée would be served at 7pm (it actually arrived at 8pm). We requested a glass of white or red wine and were told we could not enjoy this until main course and had to continue on the cheap sparkling being offered. We decided to purchase wine earlier than our main course (yes on top of the expensive price per head we were paying) and also purchased Chardonnay as there was none on offer - this was after requesting a Chardonnay from multiple waitstaff who kept on bringing glasses of Pinot Noir Chardonnay (a sparkling wine which clearly showed the lack of training and experience with the waitstaff). Between courses we decided to go up on deck to watch the drone show which to our disappointment was so far away you needed binoculars to see it plus the location from where the vessel was positioned to watch them was wrong. Upon returning to the table the glasses of Chardonnay we had additionally purchased had been cleared and when asking the waitstaff about this we received zero response. When we purchased our tickets this year we were excited to experience Nel’s culinary expertise as a newness to last year. Well this failed to impress with tasteless smoked blue coloured oysters and most of us leaving the entrée for the underwhelming sauce smothering the poached salmon. To say that we are extremely disappointed is an understatement. Last year you owned the harbour, and we went away raving about the evening and certainly told everyone we know about this amazing night, hence bringing new guests back to enjoy the night. This year you certainly have sunk to the class of your opposition but with a much higher price tag. The Jackson – you have 6 months to pick up the ball before your New Years Eve cruise starting at a staggering $1500/head – please float again and then I’ll be back.
