Our recent stay at the Pullman Hyde Park was nothing short of spectacular! The hotel's location was incredibly convenient, within walking distance of many popular attractions. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, going above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. Our room was spacious, clean, and well-appointed, with beautiful views of the city. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful, and the pool area was a welcome oasis to relax and unwind. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Sydney!
Every staff member we met was friendly, helpful and professional, the hotel itself is lovely and the room was really well appointed. The location is great; Oxford St is a short walk away with lots of shops and places to eat. Breakfast was also really nice, everything was fresh and there was a lot of variety.
I had planned to stay here with my husband as an extension of a work trip, but with Brisbane Airport suddenly closing due to the cyclone, he wasn’t able to join me. When I mentioned this at check-in, the staff were kind and understanding, which I really appreciated. I was happy to get a room with a park view, but I was surprised to be placed in an accessible room. While I understand these are important for those who need them, it meant I didn’t have a bath, and the setup wasn’t quite what I was expecting. The hotel itself is nice, and the staff were friendly, but I did notice that some facilities like the lifts and common areas were in need of maintenance. For a five-star hotel, I would have expected a higher standard of upkeep. I also found the in-room dining options quite limited due to my dietary requirements (dairy-free and gluten-free). The only dish I could comfortably order was vegetables, which was disappointing. It would be great to see at least one main, entrée, and side option catering to these needs. On my first night, the emergency evacuation alarm went off, and everyone had to evacuate. While the staff were responsive, it was clear they weren’t sure what had triggered it, which didn’t exactly inspire confidence in their emergency procedures. Overall, while there were some positives, I feel there’s room for improvement, especially when it comes to maintenance, room selection, and dietary options.
I'm writing this on behalf of my aunt, whose recent stay at the Pullman Hotel in Sydney has unfortunately been marred by a deeply frustrating experience. She booked her stay through Booking.com, paying in full in advance. Upon arrival, the hotel had her reservation and checked her in without issue. At checkout, she used the express option—dropped off her key at the desk and was told that any extra charges would be billed to the card on file. It wasn’t until later that she realized she had been charged twice for the same stay—once by Booking.com, and again by the hotel directly. She reached out to Booking.com immediately, and for weeks was given the runaround. Finally, they informed her that they had contacted the hotel, and Pullman claimed the charges were correct. Case closed. My aunt is a senior citizen spending her retirement traveling—a time that should be relaxing and fulfilling. Instead, she has had to ask her grandchildren for help navigating this issue, wasting countless hours dealing with customer service. She also cannot afford the international charges it would cost her to call the hotel directly. The fact that Pullman has chosen to stand by this duplicate charge, knowing full well it has impacted an elderly guest, is incredibly disappointing. What should have been a memorable and pleasant stay has turned into an exhausting and costly experience. We cannot recommend this hotel to other travelers—especially seniors—who expect honesty, fairness, and accountability when something goes wrong.
We stayed here twice in April 2025, on a Sunday night and a Tuesday night. The place is well-located and room was nice and clean with a great view. The minibar choices were limited and disappointing, as was the room service menu, with about 4 things on it. The watermelon spritzer was execrable. The restaurant service was poor and the food not up to par. For example I ordered wiener schnitzel which they'd crumbed with big dry chewy flakes of rolled oats: the texture and flavour was so bad I nearly laughed at the weirdness of the idea, except that I was paying $35 or so for it. Their chips were dry and hard on both occasions we ordered them. My husband's calamari was ok but quite dry and only 4 little bits. Despite checking and re-checking our order, as we suspected we were not being listened to, they got our order wrong and kept trying to give us items we didn't order. The bed was very high and hard and both nights we spent tossing and turning and woke up sore. A pillow from the pillow menu was not available either. This claims to be a 5 star hotel and I wonder what that means now. This place is not cheap and we thought we'd have a good night's sleep but gee it was understaffed and disappointing in many ways.
