It's absolutely awesome. Great hotel, really comfortable bed. Very nice staff. Really nice bonus in the form of shower access before and after the booking. They have a comfy guest lounge with air conditioning (allows you to dry off a bit) with bathroom and shower access. There's also a basic kitchen in there. The hotel rooms have air conditioning, ceiling fans, and large bathrooms. There are restaurants in the hotel plus pizzeria and cafe nearby. There are 3 pools at the hotel, a lot of greenery with a lot of interesting exotic plants. The hotel has also strategically placed vending machines, which have good prices for snacks and soft drinks. There's some wildlife like a lot of birds and colourful butterflies which are visiting those plants. There was also a gecko on the wall of one of the buildings:) If someone is afraid of birds and lizards, you don't have to worry. The hotel windows have nets, so nothing will pay you a visit in your room;) But I'm assuming, that if someone is visiting Cairns, then that person loves nature and will actually expect to see exotic plants and animals. It has this little "welcome to Jurassic Park" vibe before the animals went wild;) We were at the hotel during the rain season, and it was great. I have never experienced a tropical rain before. It's like a warm shower. You're not getting cold. I highly recommend it. The hotel also has a laundry, so in case you run out of dry clothes, you can fix it there. You just need to secure your phone and wallet from the rain, maybe take an umbrella to not get too wet, and you're good to go. Sandals/thongs are possibly the best option. Cairns also has a beautiful botanical garden, which is close to the hotel. I would possibly build more sidewalks in the area;)
On arrival we were given the wrong room twice before being given the correct room. The security guy helped with our luggage to change between rooms. Nice clean large rooms. Friendly staff. Definitely resort style with 3 swimming pools. Would stay again
Beautiful resort building and layout. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. 3 pools to choose from and the pool bar, Cafe is well priced with good food. Location is close to airport, yet quite a walking distance from the main town, yet a short taxi trip. Has a lovely Queensland tropical vibe and although we don't have children with us, as it's very kid friendly set up, we love it and the price for 2 weeks was great.
As a local family juggling stressful jobs and a busy schedule, we were looking for a relaxing escape close to home—and Cairns Colonial Club Resort delivered beyond our expectations. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and cared for, making it the perfect spot to unwind and spend quality time together. The room was clean and renovated, modern, and incredibly comfortable—exactly what we needed for a peaceful night’s rest. The food was outstanding, with every dish tasting fresh and thoughtfully prepared. Special mention to Matthew, the operations manager, exceptional customer service. He greeted every guest with genuine warmth and went above and beyond to ensure everyone, including us, was having a great time. It’s clear he takes pride in creating a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Our son had a blast too, which made the experience even more special for us as parents. We’re so lucky to have a place like this right in our community. If you’re a local family looking for an stress-free getaway, we highly recommend Cairns Colonial Club Resort —it’s a gem we’ll definitely be returning to! Big Thank you! Fabio and Family
We enjoyed a lovely 9 night stay here at the Cairns Colonial Resort. The rooms were just lovely and serviced daily. Very happy with the level of service provided. We utilised 2 of the 3 pools available and they were just amazing after a long day out travelling around to come back and relax with a swim. Car parking was a little tight over the weekends as they are very busy then but was still able to get our hire car into a close car park. The gardens were lovely to walk around, and we had breakfast and dinners in the Flamingo restaurant which was just delicious. The Pizza and pasta restaurant was also a hit with my family too. Will definitely be booking another holiday to this resort.
