•About the venue
Evies Disco Diner is a bar/disco/diner housed in a converted warehouse space on Gertrude St. Aesthetically paying homage to the 1980s (think Stranger Things), with a soundtrack that references that era but more so the current sound of Melbourne, Evie's is an incredibly unique venue in the cultural heart of Fitzroy.
A fun cocktail list, craft beers and local wines on tap make Evie's a space for everyone. The menu is American diner style with a huge range of vegan options. There is an emphasis on low waste, ethics and sustainability, and everything is locally sourced, even down to the syrup in the soda guns!
With a nightclub-quality sound system and a dance floor, Evie's caters for lots of occasions, and with 3 different functions areas, it allows for guest lists ranging from 25 people to 180!

We recently had our engagement party at EVIES and they exceeded all our expectations. We had so much fun and had the best night!!! All the staff were incredibly polite and went above and beyond to ensure everything ran smoothly. Their helpfulness and presence truly made the event special. All the food was delicious! We had so many compliments on the food. The staff made sure it was spread around and continued throughout the night. EVIES also organised some great music, thanks Yaz! We couldn’t have asked for a better experience! Callum, thanks for making it a stress free night. We appreciate all your hard work and assistance on the day. Thanks for all your assistance organising the event, Wayne. EVIES was the perfect venue and look forward to attending or hosting events here again. 🖤 Cameron & Emanuel 🪩
I definitely appreciated the unique atmosphere. It offers American style diner food in an 80’s style disco environment, mirror balls and all. They cater to their environment being located in Fitzroy and having a menu that is quite vegan friendly (but don’t worry you can get real meat too). You order at the counter and we began with a sauv blac (also vegan) and a Reece’s pieces shake. The shake I found was quite bland lacking a strong peanut flavour. The food came out relatively quickly and we had the vegan eggplant wedges, chicken and waffles, shoestring fries, chicken burger and the Philly cheesesteak bowl. The burger was just average for me with a high bun ratio and a bun that was a little too charred. The chicken and waffles weren’t bad but definitely had too much maple on them. The cheesesteak bowl was a little disappointing in that the meat lacked flavour and the sweet potato fries it came with were definitely undercooked. We hoped to fare better with deserts and ordered cinnamon doughnuts and blueberry bread and butter pudding. We were effectively served two Coles doughnuts with some icy chocolate ice cream and while the doughnuts tasted good you kind of expect more then that at a restaurant. The bread and butter pudding again had unbalanced ratios. It would have fared better had the blueberries been inside rather than heaped on top. Atmosphere is one thing but the food failed to impress
I was excited to try Evie’s after reading on their website they were “Serving delicious vegan-friendly food inspired by the kitsch American diners of old”. Stepping in to Evie’s it was so incredibly loud I could hardly hear the server. I ordered the 1kg of vegan wings and a spider. I was charged $30 (I believe the server didn’t hear me even mention the spider due to the volume of the venue). He came back shortly after to tell me the vegan wings were no longer available. I asked what else on the menu was vegan and was pointed to 5 items, a far cry from the websites claim of vegan-friendly. I settled on the vegan chicken and waffles. When it came out I was shocked that the $22 meal was half a waffle, and a tiny vegan chicken patty. The food was not worth it, the venue was not inviting, I would not come back.
Brilliant fun. Delicious food, great music, fun atmosphere, and Skylar is amazing as drag bingo queen. Also the best Bloody Mary I’ve had in a very long time. I’ll be back!
Went for drag bottomless brunch and had a great time! Enjoyed the Reuben bagel, bingo was a blast. Rebel was great hosting! :)
