By Rebecca Mery. Immediately upon entering the Middle Park Hotel, one is struck with the mix of old world grandeur of an establishment over 120 years old, with the modern sensibility that comes from a contemporary facelift. It’s elegant without daring to be stuffy, and casual while remaining effortlessly stylish. That, and the classic pub food on offer is to die for. Apart from the location, the interior and the history, the Middle Park Hotel also boasts one of the longest free-standing bars in Australia. That’s forty-five individual taps - count ‘em! As far as function venues go, the public bar is available, comfortably housing twenty to eighty guests for canape-style functions. 21sts, sporting ‘dos, family get-togethers, or casual drinks; it’s all good. In addition to the public bar, the Middle Park Hotel also offers a private dining room for sit-down occasions, or corporate meetings and conferences. The Middle Park Hotel has sat proudly on Canterbury Road since 1889. Gazing upon the Victorian staircases, the bar, and the rooms of the hotel proper, it’s easy to see why it’s stood the test of time. Nestled between Port Phillip Bay, the CBD, Albert Park Lake and St Kilda, it’s also easy to see why it won’t be leaving anytime soon either.
