Bar
•Pause Bar is a little Carlisle St oasis in the Balaclava desert. Self-described as 'cavernous', it offers a space that is ripe for a party that booms. Everything about this venue shouts 'good time'. Its walls are painted teal and khaki stripes. It features 'banoffi pie' on its bar menu. It's Moroccan inspired. Fun. Funky. The beer and wine list is rotating and features a range of local boutique brands, as well as all the favourites. It's very much a classic affair with the cocktails as well – the Wrong Island Ice Tea is the bar's pride and glory. As mentioned, the bar menu is particularly outstanding. If you need something to line your stomach after that accidental third martini, how does marinated feta sound? Haloumi pockets anyone? A lamb and fig curry should do the trick, right? The interiors are novel - a wonderful mix of textures and colours that will have you humming 'Arabian Nights' under your breath. The venue can comfortably accommodate parties of up to 100.Nestled underneath Balaclava train station, Pause Bar is as accessible as it is exciting (and delicious).
The venue is a blue, striped and rather exotic walls, up to 200 friends and/or family are able to very comfortably spend an evening eating, drinking and laughing. "Comfortably" is probably selling it short, to be honest. A versatile yet str...
The front section is also where one finds the bar - in all of its colourful, strikingly lit glory. The striped walls imbue goings-on with the air of something rather exotic, without leaving Carlisle Street. Up to 60 guests are able to comfo...
The Moroccan inspired back section of the bar opens up into a versatile yet striking space. Lounges and tables litter the area, lending the back section to cocktail functions as well as sit-down affairs, and casual drinks with friends.
I went here last night, for my Bday celebration 🍾, it was just Beautiful, Food was great ,Atmosphere very relaxing,Staff great, band ,music very nice www had a dance, they only criticism l hv is the toilets should be downstairs, or not so high up the stairs, but never-ending,it was safe. 🥳🎂 Thanks Pause Bar, l will be back!!!!
I ordered a cóctel and a beer, the cóctel was $22 and beer Hawkers Pale Ale $6 o that is what the menu say before we bought it. They charged me $40.23 en total and I just realised the day after when I checked how much I paid. next time make sure leave the eftpos in direction of the client to pay ( to be able see how much you are charging ) and not to the employee direction. Of course as a client make sure to check as well and ask to see the screenshot of the eftpos to avoid any confusion or wrong charges. + I wait more than 10 mins to gets the drinks when we were only 10 persons in the bar but only 2 waiting to buy a drink in that moment. The piano was very good. Thank you.
I dj’d at a party there recently. Had to drive back to Brunswick for a TS lead and dj without a sub after finding out the gear they hired was missing required cables to reach the sub and pa speakers. I suggest you check what gear the customer has hired and paid for prior to the event at the very least. As a proclaimed live venue, it’s also important to have a couple of TS leads lying around. It’s a bit like a bar not having a mop. The event was quite affected by this negligence. Didn’t receive any apologies, no offer to refund for the hire. Most of the gig was lost. They now claim I was late but I was to dj from 9.30pm to 1am. I arrived at 9pm.
I came to this place like last month or something. Amazing staff, Amazing customers. I talked to soo many people and everyone was just so friendly. I sat with these people that do crosswords. They were my favourite. Manager Matt has real class. Kept my drink full and had a great conversation with him.
Love meeting a friend here for a drink and always friendly staff! Live music is great there!
