My first time staying at this hotel, and I was very pleased indeed. Super-conveniently located across the road from Southern Cross Station, I was able to leave my car at home and do all my Melbourne jaunting about on public transport. Greeted by pleasant and professional staff, I was quickly on my way to my room. As I was only staying one night, I had selected a small room, but it was clean and comfortable, and QUIET! I could see the trains across the road, but I could not hear them! The hand basin in my en-suite was a little slow in emptying, but on my way out to dinner I mentioned it, and it was fixed by the time I came back. Excellent service! For price, location and amenities, this will be my first-choice Melbourne hotel from now on. I was very very pleased.
Jesmin was very accommodating and welcomed us with warm greetings, especially as we arrived very late due to our flight being delayed. Though we were close to the protesting area where convention centre had issues, we were in a great vantage point and stayed away from the mess created by said protests. Comfortable clean stay, and smiling faces, what a great weekend away 😃
As most professional hotel operators would know, the first point of contact with guests (the check-in) is important to get right. So I was surprise to encounter a young lady at the Travel Lodge Docklands check in counter who was more interested in processing her admin than attending to me. Once she decided to acknowledge my presence, she barely spoke (only to ask for my ID), didn't smile once and then thrust the check in form at me with no verbal input. She either doesn't appreciate having a job or just doesn't give a cr@p. So while the rooms are clean and the location is convenient for my needs, poor staff training and management is holding this hotel back from achieving a better customer satisfaction rating.
I loved the location, central to most of the places in town. Lady at the reception was kind forgot her name, as it was the first time for me in Australia she helped me with a map. The rooms are big although the bathroom is a little smaller but okay. Enjoyed my stay.
Great place to stay if you need to be close to Southern Cross Station. Clean, comfortable and quiet. If you need to get out on time, get down the lift 15 mins early. Took us 15 mins to get to the foyer as the lifts were always full when we tried to use them.
