A solid nice room but no soap bars, barely any coffee or tea, one tiny cheap towel, one tiny milk, no mini bar, no robes, no nice extras. Ive never been to any hotel or motel lacking so much for guests, even hostels have offered much more. Disappointed although the rooms are beautiful.
I stayed at the Oakwood Premiere Melbourne from Wednesday 29th January to Monday 3rd, and whilst I'd would love to give this hotel a 5-star rating, I really just cannot. My experience was mixed with positives but mostly negatives. The positives were the following: 1) The staff were so friendly, respectful, and kind during my stay at the hotel and were always smiling and greeting people. This is an important aspect of customer service that every organization and place should have for staff to always have a smile on their face and be very open to guests. 2) I stayed in Room 2204 initially and then in Room 2910 for my final night, and I will explain why in the negatives section. The showers were wonderful and at a nice temperature, and the other items, such as the shampoo and conditioner, were amazing. The hair dryer was so handy. Showers were also great with the handwash, which smelt so nice :) However, the negatives were the following: 1) The room that I had for the first 4 days—Room 2204—was not a nice experience. Air conditioning failed on my final night of my stay, which made it so hot on a 39-degree day, and the dishwasher didn't work at all. I didn't want to make a fuss over calling the hotel staff to get fixed, so I just handwashed all the plates and dishes with dishwashing liquid. However, if there is a service dishwasher there, then it needs to work 24/7, so I would suggest your staff does an audit of every room to make sure that every piece of equipment is working. You could find yourself in hot water with Occupational Health and Safety if cables are out of date. However, I want to thank the staff for moving me out of Room 2204 on my final night to make me go up to Room 2910. I can tell you it was much cooler and better :) I wish you had me stay there for the full 5 nights because it was much better room :) 2) In Room 2204, the toilets were not functioning properly, and there was no toilet plunger in the room to clean the bottom of the toilet. The toilet in that room was awful and would not flush properly. I had to clean it myself, which is not acceptable with paper towels. I know you could request a cleaning service, which I did on one of the nights, but they shouldn't have to come every day to clean toilets up. There should be at least toilet plungers in every room of the hotel, and this was not the case even in the room for my final night in 2910. 3) Lack of cooking pans and covers on pans made it difficult to cook items such as pasta sauce to heat it up. There should have been pans with covers on them because you would know when you heat pasta without a cover on the pan—it will go everywhere, so I had to use a pan on top of the existing one so that the sauce wouldn't go spraying all over the kitchen bench. 4) No kitchen towels or scissors were available in those 2 rooms that I stayed in. I had to buy some cheap ones from Coles in order for me to dry and wash dishes. This is not acceptable and should be provided in your hotel as a 5-star hotel. Scissors would have been handy because I need to cut packets of peas and other items. There were also no napkins provided, so I had to get cheap ones from Coles as well. As a 5-star hotel, you should be providing this. 5) No help was given to me to move my stuff from 2204 to 2910, so I wasted 20 minutes of my time transporting my stuff and items of my food from Level 22 to Level 29. Your customer service here was really not good. 6) When arriving in Room 2910, I wanted to watch television with YouTube and Netflix and wanted to chromecast from my phone. The chromecast did not work because IT support and your systems didn't talk to each other in regards to transferring my details across to room 2910. The manager was very kind in trying to get this fixed for me at around 8.30pm to 9.00pm. Thank you to the manager for her kindness, and she gave me a complimentary bottle of free wine as a gift, which was nice of her. I am sorry, though I won't be returning as my experience wasn't all that good. I hope you can take my critique
I have stayed in countless hotels in Melbourne and around Australia and this is my favorite. First of all, the view! If you stay here ask for a room with a city view. The service here is amazing always with really friendly staff. The rooms are top notch. Very comfortable, clean & modern. The bed is one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in with exquisite bedding and pillows. The room service is delicious and the buffet breakfast is top quality. The only negative thing I can say but everything else is so good it is only minor is not having 24 hour room service.
Absolutely fantastic! We were left in the city on a Friday night with no accommodation due to 'Arrow on Swanston' cancelling our accommodation without warning. We couldn't find anywhere affordable to stay. Thankfully Oakwood Premier were kind enough to sort something out for us, meaning we had a safe place to stay. The staff, room, facilities ect are outstanding. Thank you so much!
Very near to Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Center and DFO. Nice room. Toilet is big, but lack of space for putting my basc Cosmetic items, have hook but not near basin so it quite inconvenient for me. lack of basic toiletries such as toothbrush and toothpaste, and have to request for room slippers. Mineral water not provided as tap water is safe to drink. Rubbish bin is dirty and not cleaned when I move in. Can see the stains.
