I recently stayed in a Queen Room at Ovolo Canberra and overall had a great experience. The hotel makes a strong first impression, with a very chic lobby that seamlessly flows into the bar and restaurant area. The design feels modern, stylish and welcoming. The Queen Room itself was compact at around 16m², but it was thoughtfully designed and had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. It felt cosy rather than cramped for one person, although I think it would be a bit tight for two guests sharing the room. Parking is available underneath the hotel via Wilson Parking and cost $35 for 24 hours, which was convenient. The hotel also has a functional gym with a good range of equipment for a workout, although there isn’t any dedicated space for stretching and no mats were available. My only real gripe was the television. It felt quite dated and the picture quality and functionality were disappointing compared to the otherwise modern feel of the hotel. Overall, Ovolo Canberra is a stylish and comfortable option in a great location, particularly for solo travellers looking for a boutique hotel experience

I'm giving this a one star rating because I couldn't submit a rating lower than it. Absolutely horrid. I went there on school camp, and first there weren't enough mattresses. Then, when the staff went to get them, they pulled them out from under a bed and we found mould on it. We had dinner, and on the first night, dinner was disgusting, tasted stale and expired. 2 people got food poisoning, and the staff were horrible, telling kids to shut up and had no manners. There were holes in the walls, the sheets are uncomfortable, the carpet has rocks in it and the amount of mosquitos were uncountable. When we went to shower, water didn't come out properly at first, but when it did, it kept stopping and starting, and the handle fell off at one point. A spider as big as my palm was found by one of my classmates when they were showering. The curtain was ripped, and the TVs didn't work properly. Our next door cabin told us the next day that they heard knocking on their door, and someone kept turning the knob. There is no door separating the 2 joining rooms, everything is cramped and there is horrible ventilation. On the second day, breakfast looked disgusting. When we went outside, we got a clear look of the horrible view. Dead plants everywhere, smells, and road is full of holes. When we went to the snow, the motel made us the food, but the fruit wasn't washed and the bread was stale. Meat smelt weird, and we didn't have any other food options. For dinner, 2 chicken tenders and a lump of stinky lasagna. Another 2 people got food poisoning that day, and staff didn't move a finger. When we were leaving the next day. I didn't eat at all, just in hope of avoiding the horrible food. Me a my classmates could all agree, the best part about Canberra was leaving that motel. In summary, the rooms were horrible, the staff was unpleasant, the food was dangerous and it was the worst thing about Canberra on my trip.

Overall, I had a great experience. I booked a three-night stay. While the lighting in the room was quite dark and the hotel felt more like a four-star rather than a five-star, the location was excellent and I enjoyed my stay overall. Room was clean and nice. The hotel dining food was also good for lunch.

This was our first stay, we are locals and had always thought this place was something special, perhaps it was but now it is something average. Shower has mould, furnishings are pretty but useless, impossible to do makeup in the evening due to poor placement of over mirror lighting. Sleep was ok but we got hot during the night View of lake was lovely but it was also overlooking a lower floor balcony. From parking you have to walk through the bar/ restaurant with your bags to check in. Overall it’s about a 4 star hotel, we had a nice enough time for one night and it was fantastically placed for Palace cinema. Staff were very friendly and helpful

Service was fantastic, in particular Jonathan who went over and above to try and ensure our stay was more comfortable. Hotel was cool and arty in design - Suites are bespoke and there's a lot of pictures! May be better suited to an under 45s type of customer. Futon feel beds a bit uncomfy over multiple nights. Bathroom in Suites is huge with bath plus a 2 person shower. A few pros and cons to consider.
