The lobby is nice; however, when I went up to my room, I noticed the lift smelt strongly of terrible toilet cleaner. Once I entered my room, it had the scent of mothballs. The hotel is quite old and definitely needs refurbishing. My room was clean and had everything I needed for a one-night stay. The only issue I had was with the shower, which was not working properly; I had to call reception for assistance. It was a very hot day, and the air conditioning worked well. I found the reception staff to be pleasant and helpful. The only trouble I encountered was when calling to get an invoice for my stay; I had to ring twice before it was sent through. The location is very close to the train station. I’ve stayed in Mantra hotels before, but I have to say this one falls a bit short compared to the others.

The young lady who checked us in was exceptional. Very professional & knowledgeable. I had confirmed that I needed two (2) single beds as I was staying with my son (I had the email confirmation). When I was checking in I checked that this had been done. The young lady confirmed it hadn't but she said they could make up a sofa bed for my son. This was fine. She did this herself which was exceptional & I was very grateful to her. The restaurant being closed Friday & Saturday evening was a nuisance. For breakfast the first morning (Saturday) the staff didn't recognise that I am a Platinum member and what that meant. The Sunday morning staff did. Most of your staff were really good with just a few who seemed disinterested. I have also had to wait for 2 days to get my tax receipt & needed to follow up with an email to get it. Whilst there were a few disappointments you have some staff who are shining stars who soften the disappointments. I didn't take down the young lady's name who checked me in Friday evening but she is one of your stars. She cares.

Checkin was terrible. One guy on reception who didn't seem to know what he was doing. Queue was out the door. Finally someone else came out to help. Considering it was grand final weekend I would have thought more staff would have been allocated. Room maintenance was below standard. We had what looked like a shower cap over the smoke alarm. Red light was flashing through so I guess it was working. Broken toilet seat. Dents in bedroom wall. Kitchen was totally inadequate. 3 small plates 2 bowls. 1 saucepan. Microwave and kettle. No toaster. They did however have sofa bed made up ready for my grandson as requested. No one came into to service the room the whole time we were there. I would have thought at nearly $800 a night someone might have at least checked the very small bin provided. Nowhere to have our free drink. So never happened. Appreciated carpark on site and slight discount. Breakfast was OK.

I understand that this is a budget hotel but honestly there shouldn’t be this many issues. The room does not have functioning AC, it only blows hot air even on the coldest setting. They provide you with a desk fan but the only thing it blows is dust around the room. Dinner was average due to the tepid food with breakfast the same. There is nothing like cold bacon and eggs to start the day off. Upon dining I tried to use my Accor Plus dining benefit but was told it could only be used if I charge the meals to the room, which is fine. Upon checkout I asked and confirmed if my dinner benefit had been applied and they assured me he had. Upon reviewing the emailed invoice and some math (triple checked) the discount had not been applied. I’ve rung the hotel to question this and they have said they would email and call me back and this is yet to happen. I’ve followed up several times now and only been given the run around

We had an issue with our Room, Staff member ( Christian) attended to our issues, and not only moved our room once, but twice! Small issues caused room changes, but as we are currently caring for our children in Hospital this issues were impacting our small time to recover. Christian not only listened to us, he made us feel relieved and comfortable. Great Staff, Great location.
