Reviews for Rydges Sydney Airport

I recently stayed at this hotel and overall it was a great experience for an early international flight. Really enjoyed the quick self check in & checkout. • The location is unbeatable—just a 2-minute walk to the international airport departures, making it super convenient for early flights. • The bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring a great night’s sleep. • The AC worked perfectly—it got nice and cold and, importantly, didn’t turn off in the middle of the night, which is a rare find in hotels. • The shower was excellent, with great water pressure, and the room itself was spacious and well-designed. • The only downside was the price—it’s a bit on the expensive side.

Great location hotel. 1 min walk to arrivals / departure international terminal. Rooms have black out curtains so can sleep in the day. Service was great. The gentlemen at reception gave me early check in which was really appreciated. Only criticism is and I really hope they go back to their previous policy - to provide a bottle of water in the room. The hotel isn’t cheap so it’s an expectation that guests would have so it’s a big disappointment when they don’t provide it. I expect only tap water in a cheap motel. The informal restaurant on site is very good.

There are lots of good reviews on here singing the hotels praises, but it's important to read between the lines. The simple truth is that this hotel is all about Location. That's the only thing that keeps it permanently busy. The truth is though, that the hotel is as basic as it gets and they charge a high premium for the convenience of being only a couple of minutes walk from the international terminal. Check in is swift and easy, as it should be, using self service kiosks. The corridors to the rooms are dark with gross carpet and no welcoming atmosphere, with doors marked and scratched from overuse. Food trays left (for how long) on the floors. Ugly. Rooms are a decent size but in a dark color scheme and quite cold. Beds comfortable enough. Bathroom is basic with a weak, old shower only. The bare minimum of scratchy cheap towels and no robes. The room has the bare basics - kettle, cheap teas and coffees etc. The fridge is full of supermarket snacks and fizzy drinks with no nutritional value, ready for you to fork out even more $ than you paid for the expensively priced room. They give you nothing. For around $350+ per night, not even a complimentary bottle of water. You have to use the tap. There is no pad or pen to write with, the amenities are cheap, a tiny bar of soap and poor quality tiny plastic tubes of shampoo and body wash. Lighting in the room is on or off with no thought to atmosphere whatsoever. Try ringing for assistance or requests and no one ever picks up. The pub at ground level where everybody goes to kill time is awful, no comfort, bored service and expensive; abysmal food and cheap wine. It's all about convenience. They have a captive audience. I've stayed in many airport hotels around the world and this is one of the worst. It's ugly, dark and depressing. It desperately needs refurbishment. It's a cash cow for Rydges and managing brand EVT Stays. There is such little care. I no longer stay here, it's such a downer. Sydney's other airport hotels are only a 10 minute shuttle ride away and are so much cleaner. Full service with all you need, robes, soft towels, bright rooms, better beds. Friendly, professional service. The Crowne Plaza gets my vote. A proper full-service hotel that is well over $100 cheaper. Don't throw $350+ away on a poor, barely 3 star hotel that simply exists for pure convenience. I doubt my review will deter many, as the convenience will win out. But don't be lazy and throw money away here. You deserve better. This place is only getting worse. Horrible.

The room's fine. I got in late, so I ordered food, and my buttered chicken came quickly and was delicious! They've got a hairdryer and kettle for the free coffee/tea, plus lots of snacks and drinks (you pay extra for those, though).

Location is the only selling point… very close to departure lounge. Room was clean and tidy so no issues there. …… Downside. Over-priced for what it really is. You’re pretty much paying for reducing anxiety of missing your flight due to unforeseen circumstances like traffic etc. Requested a view of the planes and/or runway on booking so that my young kids had something to do for an extended stay over. Was again confirmed over the phone by the manager. On check in, we got a view of an internal quadrangle. Nothing which was at all useful to keep kids occupied. NOTE: Uber-eats and any other food delivery is non existent. They don’t come. Ended up ordering from the in-house menu. Again, overpriced for pizzas & fish and chips. “Tray service $8” for the delivery to the room !? 🤷🏽♂️ Great spot if you don’t want the anxiety of being late for your flight. Outside of that, it didn’t really impress me at all. Ringing reception / house keeping from the room? Don’t expect them to pick up… even at 7pm. Ended up giving up and walking to reception to get a bottle opener for the over priced beer I ordered. Doesn’t your cleaning service not check that these things are left in the rooms when preparing ? Rydges… please do better! If you promise something, then follow through. Recommend? Yes but purely because it makes check in @ departures a lot easier … but expect to pay A LOT for that single luxury. The online checking in & out is a good idea. Overall all, a good stay and I do recommend but again, eat before you check in and don’t rely on any promises made by the manager.
