Wandering the city to find a piano to play music on, I noticed through the window that this hotel had one that seemed very good from a distance (and pianos were generally difficult to find around here). So then I entered and approached the staff (just a few days ago). A staff who introduced Herself as Julia (sorry if I misspelled) gave me some hope initially. We talked for a little while, but soon after giving false hope, after I showed Her some of my handwritten compositions, She told me that the piano is always locked and that the Manager (not present at the time) keeps it always locked. So I asked when would be a good day to speak to the Manager about it, and She refused to tell me, She said that the piano is always locked and that no-one plays it. It made me feel like this: One can spend years of one's Life trying to become a good pianist / composer, barely can afford a meal because of the situation, even having become fairly good at it - only to be rejected after offering to share for free. I could never afford to buy a piano as good as that one, it was probably worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, but the staff basically told me no-one was permitted to use it, if even to portray peaceful music, and made the Manager to seem unreachable. The fact that Julia was rejecting of my application to even speak with the Manager regarding to share my compositions for free, said at least one of a few things: 1 - Julia either assumed the worst in me, considering me somewhat worthless (was it my attire? my ugly face?). 2 - Julia assumed that Her Manager would also reject me, therefore assuming Her Manager to be not a Kind Person. 3 - People buy an expensive grand piano, a treasure that cost much effort to produce and cost Trees their lives, and present it in a hotel, to boast of having material possessions that are not used by anyone (while others go hungry) - this third possibility made me especially reluctant to visit again, because why would anyone support a business, that portrays such arrogance? As i was leaving, She smiled to me and wished me a happy time, but I sensed insincerity. It was a very difficult day for me, because about four venues treated me in a similar way that day, and I said to myself in my mind, "I hate Melbourne", and "I wish to leave Melbourne" (I was born very close to Melbourne and lived nearby, with my Mum, most of my Life, except for just a few months, but currently I am too poor to afford to both leave and survive). Initially happy to support their business for free, I found that People tended to not respect me all that much - therefore I avoided such businesses.

The location was fabulous for interstate travel, directly across from southern cross station. Rooms were quite nice, staff were lovely. Unfortunately we had the buffet breakfast on the first morning. At $42 a head it was extremely disappointing. We ate in the middle of the service. Range was very basic and all of the selection were lukewarm at best, many stone cold. Definitely recommend staying just avoid the breakfast. We found much better choices across the road for half the price the next morning

Stayed at this hotel while in Melbourne for a show. I loved the simple yet modern decor done very tastefully. Helpful staff and location is amazing.Free tram is just across the road. Walking distance to most of the places like Marvel stadium or free tram to shopping mall. Great many places to eat and steps away to Southern cross station.

Hi There. I stayed at the SAVOY last week for 2 nights with a friend and we loved our stay. Our rooms were adjoining which made it fun. For anyone who appreciates Art Decor the SAVOY is for you. Our rooms were stunning, with everything you need, very clean & most important my bed was comfortable & pillows luxurious. Would I stay here again, absolutely. Am already looking forward to my next mini stay at tge SAVOY. Staff were very helpful. ( Only let down was the Restaurant with the food, unfortunately.)

The location is perfect, and the rooms are lovely. However, we were in for a four day stay, and the shower head was broken (only works when hand held, which just makes it a bit tricky). Reported to reception who just stated that they're fully booked so can't move us and maintenance can't look until Monday (the day we leave anyway), which is fine, but then no other compensation was offered which was a shame. Update to note: upon a second mention later in the stay, Connor did offer an apology and breakfast on our last morning. It would be fantastic if there were maintenance staff available to assist with repairs on the weekend. Stuff breaks on a Saturday and Sunday too 😂 bathroom functionality is paramount for a Hotel stay. It would have also been good if there was a shower screen or curtain to avoid the whole space flooding, and a vanity or bench to place things when getting ready. It's not an overly functional space. The breakfast service was lovely, with a great selection. It's also an absolutely visually stunning building.
