Amazing hotel, has everything you need, including luxurious rooms, mini bar, food, great amenities, and much more. Rooms were luxurious, but the bathroom needs renovation, and large flat screen tv to stream your favourite apps. Food was decent, with many options available as a buffet, was able to work out at the gym for some time, and it is in close proximity to the city centre. The mini bar had alcohol, so if you follow a religion that forbids alcohol it's best to tell them. The value is 101% worth the money :)
A fabulous location to stay within walking distance of the CBD. Beautiful parks around. Breakfast buffet, although very busy during high holiday periods, is very good with a huge variety. Rooms are spacious. Bathrooms are dated and need a revamp. Amanda, the duty manager on checkout, was amazing and went above and beyond in making your checkout smooth and quick. The Breakfast staff this morning were very attentive and accommodating.
Nice rooms and great breakfast, a nice addition was the large gym and the ping pong table. Convenient central location. Although, the bathrooms need renovation as there is still a shower in a bathtub with curtains. Also, the water in the pool was freezing cold.
I recently stayed at the Crowne Plaza Canberra with a group of 6 families, and unfortunately, the service we received was far below expectations. Several issues impacted our stay, which I feel need to be addressed: 1. Each room was only provided with breakfast for two people, even though we had booked family rooms and were a group of 6 families, including three with children. This resulted in kids being charged up to $30+ per head, which seemed excessive, especially given the minimal incremental cost to the hotel. Furthermore, this was never communicated in advance, and guests were only informed on the spot and pressured to make quick decisions. This lack of transparency and poor communication was extremely frustrating. Canberra has many hotels and the crown plaza has definitely been my favourite over the years and is on the top of my list. However I would NOT come back any further as it’s really disappointing to see how they unwelcome the family group clients and have definitely become more profit driven than provide quality service to the clients. I believe the surrounding hotels can provide more attractive packages for families. 2. The hotel appeared to be severely understaffed. There were only two staff members at reception, and we had difficulty getting assistance when needed. While I understand cost-cutting measures, it was disappointing to find that we were expected to handle our luggage ourselves. We had to transport the luggage of 6 families to our rooms without any help. Witnessing this shortage of staff really highlighted the decline in service quality, which was a stark contrast to my previous visits. 3. One of the most concerning issues was the condition of the room. The kettle provided was rusty inside and could not be used, which raises concerns about the overall cleanliness and maintenance of the facilities. I have stayed at this hotel before and had much better experiences, which makes this visit particularly disappointing. I hope the management addresses these issues, especially the clarity of their policies and staffing levels, as it significantly impacted our stay.
I really enjoyed my recent 3 day stay at Crown Plaza during my first visit to Australia’s quaint capital. The property is lovely and centrally located near great restaurants, cafes, bars and attractions. Rooms are spacious with ample amenities and comfortable beds. I also enjoyed their buffet breakfast with a wide selection of choices between typical hot items and healthy options like fresh fruit and oatmeal. I’d love to stay here again if I ever have the chance to re-visit lovely Canberra in the future.
