•QT Canberra — home to Canberra’s most unique and largest hotel conference venues!
Whether you're on the hunt for a private space to sound out a new campaign direction, or an impressive designer space geared to ignite a spending spree in potential supporters, QT Canberra has the perfect space just for you, with eight function rooms and a capacity of up to 1000.
A wide array of conference spaces with the signature QT talents of quirk and creativity to make a strong statement in the form of a memorable function.
Located in the cultural precinct of New Acton, the former Lakeside Hotel property has been home to many a handshake deal and long lunch. The redesigned building was embraced by new technology, distinctive art and cutting-edge design. QT Canberra has extensive experience in delivering exceptional events with the largest hotel function venue in the Canberra region.
The interconnecting configuration of the QT Ballroom Canberra can also be partitioned into three separate function rooms, with the banquet floor also offering five additional rooms providing exceptional facilities for smaller meetings, workshops or breakouts. The pillar-less rooms all offer natural light with floor-to-ceiling windows and neutral tones throughout.
The QT Canberra team will work with you to create a bespoke event, paying meticulous attention to the smallest of details. From arrival drinks and canapés through to marquee hire and outdoor areas, we will work with you every step of the way to ensure your event is a success.
The property has invested in the best internet capabilities in Canberra, as WiFi becomes essential rather than an option at all events. All delegates are offered free WiFi for their duration in the hotel. All rooms include data projectors and drop screens and interactive digital screening linked from the foyer to the function floor, crossing over all rooms.
QT Canberra’s award-winning concept restaurant Capitol Bar and Grill is a Chicago-style grill with an Italian twist offering a range of fine wine, bistro classics and future favourites, whilst the hotel offers a number of exclusive retreats, secret rooms and guest suites kitted out with designer decor and mod cons.
There is also the added advantage of deluxe accommodation at QT Canberra with its 205 guest suites, which all have balcony views of the city and lakeside, quirky QT Mini bar — crowned "Best Superior Hotel" at the 2017 ACT AHA Awards, and designer decor with all the savvy mod cons delegates need to get the job done — including free WiFi, in-room movies and Nespresso machines.

I recently stayed at QT Canberra and overall had a very positive experience. The hotel staff were excellent — welcoming, attentive, and always happy to help, which made my stay feel comfortable and enjoyable. My room had a fantastic view and the bed was incredibly comfortable, which made for a great night’s sleep. The only concern I experienced was a water leak in the bathroom near the toilet area. Water appeared to be seeping through the wall, possibly from the adjacent room, and spread across the bathroom floor. On my first night, when I went to use the bathroom half asleep, I nearly slipped on the wet floor — thankfully I was able to grab the towel rail and avoid an accident. I reported the issue to reception before heading to breakfast, but unfortunately the maintenance team wasn’t able to resolve it during my stay, so the leak persisted. The safety of guests must be the highest priority of the hotel, and this incident highlighted a serious risk that I was fortunate to avoid. Unfortunately, what began as a positive experience turned into a negative one because of this unresolved safety issue. In addition, I had an unpleasant experience at the Capitol Bar & Grill. The manager, Natalie, was very reluctant to seat me away from the kitchen, even though there were plenty of available tables. I was still holding my luggage and bags and hadn’t even had a chance to settle when she insisted I order tea or coffee straight away. When I expressed that this made me feel unwelcome and inconvenienced, she gave me a dismissive look and walked off. Her body language suggested that I should leave the restaurant altogether. This attitude is disappointing, as a restaurant manager should be setting the standard for hospitality and guest care. Based on this interaction, I would not recommend dining at the Capitol Bar & Grill. I travel to Canberra regularly for work (every month) and would be keen to consider QT Canberra as my regular place to stay, depending on how management addresses these issues from my recent visit. I am happy to discuss this further if needed. Overall, while the hotel staff, the great view, and the comfortable bed were definite highlights, I do hope QT Canberra addresses both the maintenance and hospitality concerns promptly to ensure guest safety, comfort, and a consistently positive experience in the future.
Location is great. Although it had become apparent that there is ongoing construction work around the hotel for months now which makes it hard when away on holiday to get a decent sleep in. On going all day to late evenings. Parking is hit and miss. You pay 30 dollars a night and don’t have a designated spot so you are not guaranteed parking. The restaurant in the hotel was poor. Pricey items for poor service. Rooms are small.
We had an okay stay at QT Canberra. The rate and package were very competitive, including parking, breakfast, and a few nice perks. And the reception staff were super friendly and helpful throughout. We did have some issues with our room, the first was uncomfortably cold and the temperature couldn’t be adjusted. We were moved to another room (thanks to the helpful team), but even there the climate control wasn’t working properly. At least it was warmer! The hotel itself feels quite dated and the rooms don’t reflect the stylish vibe shown on their website. A bit of a letdown compared to other QT properties we’ve stayed at in other cities. That said, the breakfast was decent, and the complimentary drinks at the bar from our package were a nice addition. All in all, it’s not a standout QT experience but it was good value for money and we appreciated not being hit with a huge bill at the end.
I stayed here for a business trip and loved it. The rooms were really spacious, the view of the lake was amazing, the service was great and the breakfast each morning was delicious. Only downside was the cost of the parking and the structure of it - your time doesn't start from arrival, but instead is a set time in the afternoon.
We stayed in room 618 on August 20. Pros: - Great location, walking distance to everything - Excellent minibar supplies - Friendly staff Cons: - Drab room - A/C and audiovisual is old and unfriendly - Rundown bathroom with stains on floor, rusted hinges, no fan, cheap tissues and toilet paper I've stayed at QT Hotels in multiple cities. They were cool and fun and up to date. This one is tired and disappointing.
