I stayed at the Sage Hotel in Wollongong for two nights and had one of the best check-in experiences I’ve ever had. Thomas at the front desk was incredibly helpful and even offered me an upgrade from my Executive Balcony Room to a Family Suite. While the gesture was appreciated, the extra living space in the suite felt a little tired and narrow, so I didn’t really make use of it. The room itself was pleasant but definitely showing its age — marks on the walls and skirting boards, bathroom stains, and some dirt in the corners. It could use a fresh coat of paint to match the photos on the website, which looked more polished than reality. I dont drink coffee, but the in room coffee machine had also seen better days. That said, the room was still clean overall. The location is fantastic — just a short walk to the beach, coastal paths, restaurants, and shops. Parking was secure and hassle-free. The continental breakfast had a great variety (the banana bread was delicious!), and I loved the free ground-floor water station with both still and sparkling options for refilling bottles. Overall, it was a pleasant stay and I’d be happy to return in the future. I’ve only marked it down slightly due to the condition of the room and bathroom.

Rooms are great for the price and it was lovely being up on the 8th floor with views across to the golf course and a window that could be opened sufficiently to let in the fresh breeze. Breakfast in the Five Islands terrace was excellent, scrambled eggs, sourdough and bacon was cooked to perfection and you just can’t beat Vittoria coffee! Location of the hotel is excellent - short walk to the beach and a walkway that takes you into Wollongong and up to the lighthouse.

The room was great. Clean, comfortable, nice bathroom and great views of the golf course. Would definitely recommend. The dining experience was stressful and substandard. I was with two colleagues. We all ordered the pork belly for $32 and it was entree size. I went to McDonalds around the corner after dinner as I was still hungry after dinner. Two of us received our meal but the 3rd order did not come . We reminded the staff about this but it was somehow forgotten. When we received our bill, we were charged for 3 red wines which we had already paid for when we ordered them which we had to get the bill amended. We also received one collective bill when it was obvious we needed 3 seperate bills as we were staying in 3 seperate rooms. When we ordered the meals, it had to be via QR code which there was a surcharge for! One of my colleagues said the room service vanilla ice cream took one hour 45 minutes to arrive. Great stay but would never dine here. Lots of great restaurants around that are much better value and better service.

The room is very spacious, with a sofa, bed, dining table, and coffee table —the room has everything you need. The cleanliness is quite decent, the bed is soft and comfortable, and the sofa is cozy too. Heater is working fine. The hotel doesn’t feel old at all! Just want to say. There's nothing like the other bad reviews. Sege suit. Room 1112. You turely deserve it!
