The best bits: the staff were so friendly and helpful. The lobby area is very welcoming. The buffet breakfast was great value. The less good parts: rooms were tired. They’re kept clean, but even the sheets and curtains are showing signs of age and wear. The room (112) was spacious, but had very limited storage and hanging, so I had to drape a lot of my clothes over furniture. Power sockets are all very inconveniently placed - and nothing by the beds. Bathroom has limited storage. It was IMPOSSIBLE to get the shower to a comfortable temperature - either so hot it took off your skin, or cold. The bed was so soft it felt like the mattress was broken. Single glazing lets in draughts and the considerable road noise. The room had a lot of windows and curtains, and it was hard to block out the external light overnight. It’s a shame, because the team are so nice, but the relative discomfort of the room would put me off staying again when in Melbourne.
Wonderful hotel. Staff were so friendly and efficient especially the staff working in the restaurant for breakfast over the weekend. Breakfast was very good value including all the traditional buffet breakfast foods. I was in the One Bedroom Loft Apartment with Balcony which was certainly dated but comfortable and clean. I slept very well which is unusual for me in hotels. My room also had a mini clothes washer/dryer which I wish I knew about beforehand as I could have brought my running gear to take advantage of the incredibly convenient footpaths along the river. Marvellous addition to the room. I visit Melbourne once a year or so and this will be the first hotel I will stay at twice.
My wife and I stayed there on Saturday night 29/03/2025. On arrival we were informed that they will withhold $100 as a surety. The room cost was taken on arrival and they withheld the $100 to be returned on checkout. My wife was told it could take 2-3 business days for this $100 to come back which is not ideal but ok. To our surprise on Monday morning they removed $352.00 from our account. My wife rang to have this corrected as we have already paid for the nights accommodation. So they had charged us again for the accommodation. It is now Thursday afternoon my wife has been on the phone a number of times to have this corrected and as yet it has not come back into our account. The rooms are dated and could do with a coat of paint, the position is central and we have stayed there on a number of occasions but this will be the last time. Anyone can make a mistake but fix it and not in four - five days. If they can take your money immediately why does it take 5 days to correct their mistake?
Nice hotel, the loft view requires climbing stairs. We were very exhausted on the day of check in, after driving from Canberra. The duty manager was nice and professional, she offered to help lift our luggage up the stairs when we stated we were extremely tired. Loft has a washer/dryer combo. The only downside is the bathrooms shower, its only half covered, and has no door to cover puddles of water if showered.
Pretty decent, very generous rooms, just very very soft beds so not ideal if you have a bad back, pull out beds also a bit dated and worn Staff are excellent, food good Would recommend for most people I know
