The Cargo Hall is one of the most sought-after locations for a stylish event with some old-world industrial charm. It is the younger sister of the flagship venue, Showtime Events Centre. The venue boasts exquisite views across the city skyline and iconic Yarra River, a few minute’s walk from the hustle and bustle of the city centre. Incorporating modern design whilst retaining its unique nineteenth-century maritime character, The Cargo Hall is a vibrant and refreshing addition to Melbourne’s Event scene. Situated directly opposite the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, the venue benefits from the local accommodation and public transport options as well as over 2000 adjacent parking spaces. This pillar-less, fully open space can accommodate up to 220 people for a sit-down event and up to 600 people for cocktails with fantastic views over the river and city skyline. The raw, industrial heritage of the building shines through in the exposed beams, wide open space, and warehouse feel. Unique characteristics include a contemporary designed suspended mezzanine floor, original trusses, heritage floorboards and a classic façade. My daughter attended her year 12 formal at Cargo Hall. In the lead up to the event both myself and a school representative contacted the venue to ensure they would be able to cater for her coeliacs disease, both of us were assured that the chef was familiar with coeliac disease and could provide a suitable gluten free option. I paid $130 for her to attend and receive a three course seated meal, yet they provided no gluten free canapés or dessert, only a small gluten free main consisting of a pork cutlet, dollop of mashed potato and three beans! The quality of the meal was very poor and to make matters worse, after being assured that they could provide a gluten free option free of cross contamination, she was handed a card on arrival advising that they could not guarantee there wouldn’t be gluten present in her food… Absolutely pathetic! I would not recommend this venue to anyone with food allergies, intolerances or restrictions.

A great venue with wide open spaces and plenty of ventilation. The food was incredible, so delicious and the staff were so friendly and accommodating. The room was ambient but well lit and it had a small stage at the front for speeches. The venue is right on the waterfront with excellent views. It's easy to find with nearby parking too. Would definitely book a party or event here again in the future.

This was my first experience at Cargo Hall after hearing good things over the years. We attended a wedding and the staff did not disappoint! It was a little squishy in the foyer area whilst the room was being prepared, however the staff made it tolerable with finger food and drinks flowing. When they opened the hall doors however wow was I impressed. Tables were presented beautifully, everyone had a name on their menu and the lighting set the moon. From there we enjoyed speeches and music throughout the rest of the night. Great experience, kudos to all the staff at Cargo Hall.
