Hotel
•Melbourne's Hotel Grand Chancellor is a four-star boutique hotel found right in the vibrant, beating heart of the city - in the theatre precinct, in the gateway to Chinatown, and within a stone's throw of the business district. Aside from being immensely popular with those visiting Melbourne to take in the sights, sounds and culture of the city on holiday, the Hotel Grand Chancellor also features a number of spaces for meetings and events. Six well appointed meeting rooms provide space to get the team or key stakeholders together away from the confines of the office. When it comes to larger events - like banquets or conferences - the Hotel Grand Chancellor easily hosts them too. Think informal events like networking breakfasts, all the way to professionally executed seminars.

I have had the pleasure of staying at the Grand Chancellor on two separate occasions, and both experiences were excellent. During my most recent visit with my partner, we opted for a classic king room, and we were thoroughly impressed. The room was exceptionally spacious and impeccably clean, featuring a large king bed with extra blankets and robes provided. The bathroom was stocked with complimentary toiletries including a toothbrush and toothpaste, shaving kit, soaps, and sanitary kits—an impressive array of amenities not commonly found in other hotels. The hotel's location in the heart of Melbourne CBD is fantastic, with close proximity to Parliament and Melbourne Central train stations, as well as the tram line. The ground floor bar and restaurant offered great happy hour deals, and the hotel also provides 24-hour room service for added convenience. One of the highlights is the rooftop pool, though I didn't get to enjoy it during my recent visit due to the chilly Melbourne weather. However, on my previous stay in 2018, it was great to relax on the edge while my friends swam. Throughout our stay, the staff we encountered at both the reception desk and the bar were delightful and extremely helpful. If I were to mention any minor inconveniences, it would be that the bathroom tended to flood easily due to the narrow shower screen, causing water to splash onto the floor with movement. However, this issue is relatively minor and wouldn't deter me from returning to the Grand Chancellor. Overall, I recommend the Grand Chancellor for its convenience, excellent facilities, and attentive service.
We stayed to celebrate a birthday. Hubby asked to be upgraded and they obliged. We came back to our room and were surprised with a chilled bottle of champers, which was a lovely touch. Staff are lovely and friendly. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again.
The whole hotel is outdated and lacking care. It's a 3-star hotel who added a pool for the extra star. Cleaning efforts were subpar. The elevator smelt high of urine. There is no safety measures with access to hotel rooms or the actual apartments, anyone could walk in, say hello to reception, hop in an elevator and go to any floor they like. There are no additional security measures on the doors, just an electronic lock. The extractor fan was struggling to work and the shower is not only small but completely open, whole bathroom becomes the shower, the shower drain is directly under the shower head so you get to stand on the yucky drain. The whole room smelt to high heavens of bleach, I at least was happy it was cleaned... When brushing my teeth, I swear I could get high off the smell of bleach, I put my hand on the basin and noticed it was slimey, alas! Bleach. The bleach wasn't even cleaned off!! in a panic, I've checked everything that touched it, unfortunately, at some point I leant on it in my new cargo jeans $70 pair of jeans ruined, red patches bleached right on the waist, height of the basin. I'm pretty upset overall of my experience of the hotel. I should have gone to the Mantra on Russel
What a great hotel! Room was fantastic. Great views. Mammoth, comfy bed that I could have slept for days in. Great buffet breakfast. Great location as everything was within a short walking distance. I spent time in Chinatown and the theatres which are all so close. Then lots of shopping as well. Staff were very welcoming and knowledgeable. Dale gave us lots of great suggestions such as the light show and where to get great coffee. Plus he has a great sense of humour. He literally had us in stitches. Will definitely be back soon
Great hotel for tourists. The free WiFi is unreliable but doesn't really matter if you have an Australian sim card. Food is amazing and the staff were extremely kind. Would go to again.
