Why you'll love Hotel Windsor Melbourne

  • Features a warm and glamorous spaces, softly lit and full of grandeur and charm, with high ceilings, antique furnishings and glorious period detail from a bygone era.
  • Offers luxurious guest rooms, free Wi-fi, first class AV facilities and flexible events catering options.
  • Conveniently accessible by Melbourne’s public transport and only walking distance to many of the city’s landmarks and attractions.

The Hotel Windsor Melbourne is Australia's most cherished and iconic five-star grand hotel. It first opened its doors in 1883 and is older than The Plaza and the Waldorf-Astoria in New York and The Savoy in London. It has since grown into what can be considered Melbourne's own little piece of history right on Spring Street. The Windsor Hotel is one of Melbourne's most impressive places to host an event, and for good reason.

The venue offers a backdrop that teams old-world elegance with modern convenience (and very talented professionals behind the scenes). Weddings especially will be treated to this prestigious setting whilst conferences or meetings can be held in any number of meeting rooms available on site.

The renovated Windsor Hotel was the site of an eventful royal visit in 1923. The hotel's opening ceremony featured a lunch attended by His Royal Highness, the Prince Of Wales. To commemorate this occasion, the owners renamed the property to "The Windsor." Today, this grand hotel remains a Melbourne landmark and possibly the finest five-star hotel in the city. Guests staying at the Hotel Windsor are treated to luxe accommodations, glorious dining (including a memorable high tea experience) and warm service.

We have always loved The Hotel Windsor. It has soul or atmosphere or an old world elegance about it that has always appealed to us. We were warmly welcomed by the front desk staff. As we were staying for 5 days we lashed out on one of their Windsor Suites which did not disappoint. It was the perfect home away from home and a good starting point from which we were able to walk to the various shows we attended and view some of Melbourne. Breakfast in the dining room was a great way to start the day. Room service for a couple of the evenings was prompt and perfect, delivered by personable and amiable staff. The High Tea on Sunday was very enjoyable and since we attended the 2.30pm sitting ensured that there was no need for another meal that evening as there was such a variety of sweets and savouries to partake. Just walking down the elegant centre staircase each day or strolling through the hallways were experiences to be enjoyed. What can I say...we love The Hotel Windsor.

The hotel itself is a little tired but does conjure up a bygone era of elegance. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the service is spectacular! The valet saw that I was checking out and grabbed my bags to put in the car for me. The location is perfect and valet parking made for a seamless experience.

I recently had the pleasure of organizing a styled shoot at the Hotel Windsor in Melbourne, and their support made the experience truly unforgettable. From the moment we stepped into this historic and beautifully maintained venue, the staff went above and beyond to ensure everything ran smoothly. Their attention to detail, warm hospitality, and willingness to accommodate our needs brought an extra layer of elegance and ease to the shoot. The stunning architecture and timeless charm of the hotel provided the perfect backdrop, elevating the entire aesthetic and atmosphere. The combination of their professional service and the iconic setting made this project a resounding success. If you're looking for a venue that adds sophistication and impeccable service to any event, I highly recommend the Hotel Windsor.

WOW… a friend from Melbourne suggested a visit while visiting from interstate. The high tea didn’t disappoint. I’ve never had a high tea with an extra buffet of cakes, chocolate fountain plus endless sandwiches and scones… delicious… the service is also amazing. Thank you

Our stay at The Hotel Windsor was truly a taste of luxury. This beautiful, historic hotel immediately impresses with its stunning architecture, especially the grand staircase and the warm, inviting lobby. Our room was incredibly spacious, with large windows offering a picturesque view of Parliament House. One of the highlights was simply wandering the halls, admiring the extensive collection of artwork and reading about the many famous guests who have stayed there, including movie stars, sports legends, and royalty. The hotel’s rich history added a sense of grandeur to our stay. We had an unforgettable experience dining at One Eleven, where we were treated to a performance of the play Gluttony, which took place at the table right next to us, while we enjoyed a delectable three-course meal. The combination of exquisite food and live theatre made for a truly unique and memorable evening. Overall, The Hotel Windsor offered an extremely comfortable and luxurious stay in a prime location, within easy reach of theatres and trams that made exploring the city a breeze. Highly recommended for anyone seeking elegance and history in the heart of Melbourne.
