From the same team who brought you Maeve Fox and Katuk, The Blacksmith Bar has opened its doors at 69 Swan Street. The original structure dates back to 1924, as McNaughton’s Ironmongers which can still be seen on the existing façade. Pratt Hospitality Group drew inspiration from this for the entire venue. Everything from the name of the venue, the quirky antique-style décor, the cocktail menu, and even the staff uniforms play on the history of the structure. After several weeks of structural upgrades, the building has been revitalised and given new life with a combination of eclectic surfaces, state-of-the-art technology and most importantly; personality which will continue to develop for years to come. Several months of planning have gone into the interior of the bar, as most pieces were sourced second-hand and then refurbished or reupholstered to tie in with the carefully chosen finishes throughout the venue. It is the perfect spot for a memorable dinner date, a delicious cocktail or a small, lively gathering with a group of friends. The cocktail menu is designed to be uncomplicated and simplistic; a paired backlist, paying homage to the old classics. Swan Street is now established as one of the busiest entertainment precincts in Victoria, and The Blacksmith aims to complement the existing offering, while also elevating the precinct as a whole. Not only can The Blacksmith cater to functions, but you can also reserve an area for small or large groups with no minimum spend. Booking is not required, however, tables fill up quickly, especially during Happy Hour which is every single day between 4 pm - 7 pm and includes 1/2 price Tap Beer and 1/2 price Basic Spirits.

We celebrated our Wedding, after being Married on a cruise in December, here on Saturday night (4th May) with family and friends. It was a fantastic night and exactly what we wanted. The process of booking the venue, choosing the platters and drinks for our tab was made easy thanx to Shae from Pratt Hospitality Group (who manages the venue bookings). Brilliant communication and checking in to ensure we got everything completed on time. The staff running the event and working the bar on the night were fantastic, friendly and efficient. The food was amazing!! Everyone raved about how delicious everything was, plenty of choices for our gluten free and vegetarian guests. The atmosphere and vibe was perfect for our event, photos playing on the tv brought back many happy memories and we had our playlist on to dance to. Everyone loved the photobooth, we brought our own props to represent our Cruise wedding and it was fun to go through all the photos when we received them the next day via email. Guests have spoken about how great the night was and the venue was perfect and would consider it for any upcoming events they plan. Highly recommend The Blacksmith Bar for any special event 🥰

Conor was the best bartender I have ever experienced. He recommended so many drinks to me and my friends and his suggestions never failed. You can tell how experienced he is in his field. I have never wrote a review before but my friends and I had the best night because of this bartender. We had seen him working on his own in a really high stress environment and he absolutely smashed it!! Can’t wait to come back!

Absolutely fantastic venue and cocktail making class. We took a group of hens here and had a great time with the activity and perfect combo of mingling time, drinking time and class. Warning the cocktails hit harder than you think.

Had our engagement party here, an absolutely fantastic night. The venue is amazing, the staff were great and on top of everything. Food was delicious and a great selection of wines and beers. The Photo Booth is great addition to the venue, and being able to play your own music playlist (eg from Spotify) is very valuable. Will be recommending the blacksmith bar to friends and family who want to host an event/function.

Recently had my 30th birthday here, and can confirm this was the best night of my life. From the beginning of the process til the end, the team were so helpful and wanted to make sure everything was perfect and seamless for the night. The food was incredible and the staff were so friendly and helpful. Cannot speak more highly of such a dedicated and thoughtful team. I will never forget this night and so happy I was able to celebrate it here. Also, GREAT COCKTAILS! The team know what they’re doing.
