On this occasion, our stay in the (very expensive) top floor two story spa suite was quite disappointing, as an ‘out of service lift’ prevented direct access to our level 12 room. On each occasion, we had to interrupt and bother reception staff to swipe the lift with their key so we could access level 11. We then had to locate the fire stairs in order to walk up to level 12. This practice posed a safety risk. When we were checking out, I asked that we and our bags be picked up from the ‘service lift’. When the lift doors opened on the ground floor we were asked to go out a door which led to a smelly, uncovered service lane at the side of the Novotel and we then had to walk around to the front entrance to go back to reception in order to check out. No compensation was offered to offset the considerable inconvenience, however, I requested a discount. Our (included) breakfast, which we attended around 8:30am was also disappointing as the room was full and the service area was rather messy. Also, staff should be instructed not to step in front of guests, particularly when you are carrying a plate of food, or cups of hot coffee. Regarding the coffee, I made a cappuccino for my wife and I and one cup was half full and the other about a quarter. My coffee was so bitter, I left it and proceeded to a nearby cafe for a proper cappuccino. It would be a good touch if guests booking the more expensive rooms were issued vouchers, entitling them to barista made coffees. On Saturday afternoon, we attended the bar and after waiting for service I had to ask reception to arrange for someone to assist, which was also disappointing.

It was a fantastic experience. The room was nice and clean, service was awesome. But the location is a bit far away from the main attractions. Still a great hotel to pick, would stay there for a month if I could.

I recently stayed at this hotel and had a mixed experience. While the reception staff were polite, they didn’t seem particularly engaged or eager to assist with any questions. A little more enthusiasm in guest interactions would have been appreciated. Unfortunately, the issues continued in the room. There was a water leakage in one of the bathrooms, which was inconvenient, and despite notifying the staff, it wasn’t properly addressed. Additionally, housekeeping could have been more thorough, as certain areas of the room were overlooked. On the plus side, the breakfast was enjoyable, and the hotel’s location near public transport made it easy to explore the city. While there are some positives, the hotel could certainly benefit from better attention to service and maintenance.

From arrival to leaving it was pretty crappy; 1. Checkin, would not update me when my room was available 2. The door in our conference room, was not able to be closed quietly 3. Food at the breaks and lunch lacked healthy options 4. Dinner lacked, I could not eat the desert and was told I could not have a 2nd main, so i had to go and buy some extra food. 5. staff not proactive
