The overall impression of the hotel was unprofessional. The staff at checking in were rude and didn't seem to know what they were doing. The restaurant and bar staff seemed flustered and not very knowledgeable (when I asked if I could order a coffee at breakfast the staff member showed me how to use the coffee machine). The hotel itself was reminiscent of an Eastern block motel and there was a lot of construction going on around the site. There was a lot of wear and tear throughout the property and the tap water tasted organic. The plus sides was the cost of parking in a central location, the central location, the mattress and the fact that you could open the windows.
Whilst clearly a tired property, the staff and quality of food and service made up for it. Checking in at the self checkin was easy too. Breakfast, dinner and our conference room foods was fresh and deliciously tasty. My bed was comfy and just the right amount of milk in fridge. Love that toiletries are easy pump packs on wall.
The staff at the hotel were exceptional, especially a young lady Ellie i think. She made our stay so easy and accommodated all requests. The hotel is perfect if you want to walk everywhere as its so close to the city. Supermarket and other stores across the road. Definitely recommend
Stayed with my partner and friend and we were all so happy! Room was so clean and comfortable, parking was great, honesty absolutely no downsides, will definitely stay again.
I really enjoyed staying at the Mercure in February 2025 - the hotel is super close to the station, the waterfront, shops and restaurants. The rooms are quite large and well equipped including with crockery and cutlery, a dining table/desk and lounge. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the rooms very clean
