We had a wonderful stay at the Sofitel Sydney Wentworth. From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming and attentive. The service truly made our stay feel special. We were celebrating my husband’s birthday, and the hotel went above and beyond by surprising us with a complimentary bottle of wine and a delicious cake in our room — such a thoughtful gesture that made the occasion even more memorable. Our room was comfortable, clean and beautifully presented, and the overall atmosphere of the hotel was elegant and relaxing. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and will happily return. Highly recommended!
Sofitel has a great reputation, known for being a 5 star hotel. However I didn't feel this in reality. It started with the self check-in experience. After being greeted and having our luggage escorted, we were faced with DIY check-in kiosks that is more suiting of Ibis rather than a Sofitel. At the staff guest services desk at the back of the lobby near the lifts, the woman there was more interested in her phone than interacting with clients and was very dismissive. The room itself felt small and the decor and bathrooms felt very dated. Think of brown/reddish marble and golds, akin to the luxury styles in the 90s. The bathroom was very cramped and the toilet roll holder at such a low and awkward position. The nice things at this hotel were the gym, the upstairs bar, and the location (which was superb). The gym felt bright and had lots of new machines including pilates machines, and saunas. The only downside was that the aircon did not have enough airflow to properly circulate air around the centre. The upstairs bar was airy, had nice decor, and the cocktails were lovely. The self check-out experience was alright. It was quick and efficient but I would have liked human interaction. This is partially the reason for staying at a nice hotel and paying a premium - to have great customer service. Would I book and stay at this Sofitel again? No. However I would be willing to try a Sofitel again in another location.
The hotel is in the center of the city and beside Circular Quay Wharf. You can visit the city center, Circular Quay Wharf, Sydney Opera House, Royal Botonic Graden and Hyde Park by walking. House keeping is doing their job very well. The hotel has a Clubmillisime Lounge which is designed very well and serves breakfast, tea time, dinner, the snacks, hot and cold drinks and beverages in very good quality all the day long. Breakfast and dinner buffet has a variety of dishes from the world kitchen with very good taste. They are being served very well. We thank the chefs and the staff -Ufuk, Onur, Jesephine, Nira, Caitlyn, Alana, Kerryn and Elaine- for their best dishes and services offered. Reception agents are very helpfull. We thank to all the staff who contributed our stay in a very good manner very much.
Sofitel Sydney Wentworth truly sets the gold standard for five-star hospitality. As Platinum members, we enjoyed access to Club Millésime, where the staff were exceptionally attentive and the food selection was outstanding all day. The rooms have been recently refurbished—modern, comfortable, and everything works perfectly. While the views aren’t remarkable, the beds are superb and the location in the Sydney CBD is unbeatable. What really stood out was the warmth, professionalism, and attentiveness of the lounge team. They made us feel genuinely valued from start to finish. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a true five-star Sydney experience.
I had mixed feelings about my stay at Sofitel Sydney Wentworth. From arrival to departure, there was no doorman or staff assistance at all. No one greeted us, helped with luggage, opened doors, or offered any guidance. I had to carry my luggage myself, find my way into the hotel, and then go up to the 5th floor lounge to check in based solely on the pre-arrival email. The same happened when leaving — no assistance whatsoever. Honestly, the overall arrival and departure experience felt more like staying at an ibis rather than a Sofitel. The room itself has been recently refurbished, and cleanliness was well maintained. However, the bathroom has not been renovated and clearly shows its age, feeling like it belongs to a hotel from many years ago rather than a refreshed luxury property. Breakfast was average and unremarkable — nothing particularly bad, but also nothing memorable or impressive. That said, the staff I did interact with were genuinely warm, friendly, and attentive, which I do appreciate. The real highlight of this hotel is the brand-new gym, which has only been open for a few weeks. It is exceptionally well equipped and feels like a professional fitness facility rather than a typical hotel gym. The staff there were enthusiastic and patient, and the wellness facilities are outstanding: • 1 dry steam room • 4 infrared saunas • 3 ice baths Everything was clean, modern, and very well maintained. If I were to stay here again, it would entirely be because of this gym, which almost made me overlook the other shortcomings.
