The hotel was really nice, staff was great, cute restaurant, good location. My only complaint, which I wish I had known, was that the king size bed was two twin beds zipped together. I know this is done sometimes, but it was not executed well in this hotel. There was a 2-3 inch gap between beds with a big dent in the middle where there was no support as it was a zipper holding the beds together. Very uncomfortable, as you would roll into this void with zero support, and was nervous every night the beds would push apart and I’d fall on the floor. Had a bad sleep and a bad back every night. If I have known this, I may not have chosen this hotel. I mentioned it to management but they said nothing could be done. Usually you’d see something more than a sheet covering this void. Not what you would expect for the price of the hotel.
The beds were comfy and it was in a good location. Although, during our stay, the bathroom had a pile of hair that was left on the floor, the basin still had dark water marks in it and the basin and floor had puddles of water on them. We had booked for 4 people and we were only given 2 towels. We went to check in only to be told that we couldn’t but yet every other person got to check in. In this waiting time we needed to use the bathroom downstairs only to be told that it was for people with a room key but we were still waiting on this. When they finally would let us check in, they still had to ring housekeeping to see if the room was ready. When paying, the receptionist tapped my card without telling me so I only had to put the pin in only to be told on check-out after asking, that I was surcharged because of this but I wasn’t given the option to even insert my card.
This is supposed to be classed as a 4 star hotel, if that’s what you want don’t go here! Thread bare carpets, scratches on furniture, seats at reception very shabby, only one towel per guest, no room service one of the days, staff not welcoming or eager to help, think they need some training in customer service. Water provided at entrance but sometimes no clean glasses or glasses were hot. Nothing in our mini bar apart from a carton of cream and we were asked what we’d used from the mini bar. On the plus side the hotel was well located. This is the first time we have visited Australia and it was supposed to be a holiday of a lifetime but this hotel was very disappointing and I would not recommend it
They told us that would ring us when our room was ready 5 days later still waiting they told us the pool was on level 9 just go up the stairs but when we went up there it wasn’t,open no sign saying it was closed so back down to reception only to be told due to the rain (but we could use the other vibe hotel pool 3 streets away maybe it didn’t rain down there )it wasn’t open but it would be opened the next day. as we had small kids it was the only reason we booked and guess what it wasn’t opened the next day either the only reason we booked a hotel was due to a pool The service was really poor and don’t get me started on the restaurant so no I won’t be going back
Recommended in the New York Times 36 hours. The location was walkable to Chinatown, Hyde Park, and the Royal Botanical Gardens. I stayed 5 nights and had a corner room that was spacious and well worn. The pool and rooftop was closed and locked my entire stay which was extremely disappointing. There is no sauna as the sign says. I did see a large creepy crawly bug in my room as well. Maybe 36 hours is the Goldie locks amount of time to be there
