Went for Christmas lunch, had a 1pm booking and they ran out of food within 30 minutes, unable to bring any more meats out. Very disappointed in the planning and preparation since it was fully booked and they knew how many and when people would be turning up. Had a much better experience last year at half the cost.
Loved the overall experience of this hotel and the staff went above and beyond. Rooms although serviced to a high standard suffer from cross-noise contamination as they are narrow and in two floors. There appears to be limited noise dampening. Also parking is immediately outside, one morning constant car door closing noises. The staff however were expectational and offered a solution without prompting.
Wonderful service in all areas of the facility. Dinner menu a pleasant surprise with tasty choices. Breakfast is adequate and missing any variety when staying more than a couple nights. The lack of a sink to wash the provided dishes and a fridge, which required my defrosting, as well as poorly sealed room entry doors cost this wonderful hotel a star on rooms. Regardless, I will be back:)
The hotel has no lift. When I arrived I was asked if I was happy to have a room on the first floor. When I found there was no lift I said definitely no. There are also no trolleys to put your gear into to assist with moving. The restaurant is not open on Mondays! After the room was cleaned on the first day, the tea spoons and saucers had not been washed at all. We had breakfast on day 1. The hot food was almost cold, if I wanted eggs other than scrambled, I needed to pay $5 extra. The room service menu for dinner states that food is delivered in takeaway containers. Do not stay here. This site will give Rydges a bad name Further, please see the photos I have just added. These are taken after cleaning. It is seemingly ok to expect guests to pry and put away their own dishes. Note the fact that the surface clearly has not been wiped down
Really comfortable beds (but the sofabed was dreadful, felt bad for my teenager!). Rooms are pretty with decorative cornices. Bathroom looks ok but was dirty - one sink was blocked and smelt of drains, and the shower silicone sealant was mouldy and leaky (leaked water onto the toilet floor area). No body lotion and no free biscuits with the tea and coffee. The worst wifi! TV Netflix didn't work, had to plug in your own device and use as a monitor, and hire the cables. Reception service was not great - sullen chap. Not a good Rydges!
