Don't be fooled by the pictures on the website, this hotel is now rather scruffy. The service was friendly, but coffee at the cafe painfully slow. The description describes this hotel as boutique, this is not how I would describe this hotel. Be prepared for slow lifts with very creepy artwork in Lift 2. Not that close to the beach, but the trams are out the front door. Take care if you're staying with young children as the homeless sleeping in the street may cause concern. The corridors are dark and unheated, with the lights only going on when you enter the hall ... saves power I guess.
Rooms are that of your standard and expected hotel of this nature however do not provide any cooking facilities even being a basic kitchenette. The area itself is awesome but the whole experience was put to a grinding halt when after having paid upfront for a week's accommodation in their executive spa suite, upon attempting to upgrade to a premier spa suite for a bigger spa, they were extremely unhelpful and were not willing to simply let me pay the difference and give them more business in the form of a more costly booking for a room that they had already vacant, but were giving me no option other than to cancell my original booking and forfeiting a nights accommodation costs then I could pay full price for the new booking.. absolutely absurd and unheard of lack on customer service or care for their customers.. was appalled to be honest and I would recommend any other hotel than this one for a comfortable stay..
The location of the hotel is convenient, but unfortunately, there are several issues! The walls are extremely thin, you can hear every movement from other guests, which made it difficult to relax. The shower water never got warm, no matter how long we let it run, which was very disappointing. Privacy is also a concern, as the neighbouring rooms have a direct view into yours unless you keep the blinds fully closed at all times. Parking was another issue. The hotel doesn’t have enough parking spaces available, even for guests willing to pay. A male receptionist gave us incorrect information about where to park, directing us to a nearby car park belonging to another hotel. He assured us it was free, even after I specifically asked again to confirm. Later, we found out we had to pay, and when we raised this with another receptionist, she simply said we must have misunderstood her colleague & she will let her colleague know, which doesn’t help us. We won’t be returning
Fantastic location Very friendly and helpful staff. Great competitive rates. It's slightly outdated, however they are currently doing renovations. After reading some of the most recent posts, I was a little sceptical. However on arrival to check in, I was extremely lucky to receive a free upgrade to the Executive Spa Suite (originally booked Queen Superior Room). I was very thankful and appreciative. *The room was a great size. *Very clean room and bathroom. * Comfy Bed. * Mini bar available to purchase. If there is anything bad I can say, is that there was no microwave or crockery/cutlery. Only drinking glasses, wine glasses and coffee cups with spoons. The hotel was very conveniently located in the heart of St Kilda, it was 3 days away from the event i attended. 5mins walk to beach. Many different bars & restaurants right at your finger tips. Close to tram as well Highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Melbourne but not wanting to stay in the CBD. 10mins drive to Melbourne CBD.
We enjoyed our stay. Staff were friendly but rooms very dated. We had a hire car and opted to pay for the nightly car park $35 per night. Especially given how scary it was at night. We were ok to pay that but entry is in a back alley and you had to get out of the car and press the button to ask to be let in. Not a big deal but when it is very late on a Saturday night and you have to get out of the car in a dark alley it kind of defeats the purpose of “secure” parking. I even called the front reception from the car but was told I still had to get out and press the buzzer and ask to be let in. Lift was appalling!!! So very slow and actually scary. It didn’t feel safe at all. It actually made me panic every-time I went in it. Room was just ok. Staff were friendly but there was nothing special about this hotel at all.
