Reviews for InterContinental Hayman Great Barrier Reef

We had a very enjoyable four night stay in one of the beachside pavilions. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t particularly good and suggest staying on the island in a later month. The staff all over the resort were very good. Our accommodation was excellent except for the non heated small pool that was adjacent to our unit. In the colder months we feel that this pool( all the pavilions have one) should be at least mildly heated as it is a major feature and would have been used a lot. We did ask but no one seemed to know about the pool system. We feel that for the money charged for a pavilion , the pools should be heated in cold weather. Also, another time, we would not pay for our meals in advance. This is offered on booking but was not always to our liking.

We’re currently staying at the InterContinental Hayman Island Resort, and it truly feels like paradise. From the moment we arrived, everything has been exceptional - the breathtaking surroundings, the warm and attentive service, and the ease of it all, even with our 6-month-old baby. There’s so much to do and explore as a family. We loved the hike to Pearl Bay with its stunning views, and sailing was an unforgettable experience. The resort is immaculately clean and well cared for, which gave us great peace of mind travelling with a baby. While there wasn’t an option to upgrade our room this time, it hasn’t taken away from the experience. The room we have has stunning views and comfortable, and the overall quality of our stay has been outstanding. You honestly don’t need to go to Fiji or Bali - this is world-class resort right here in Australia. The service has been flawless, and the range of dining options is great. Our favourite has been Pacific - their grilled dishes are absolutely top-tier. We’re still here, soaking it all in, and already dreaming about our next visit. Hayman is the perfect mix of natural beauty, comfort, and outstanding hospitality. And huge + for us from those who want to travel here with a baby

Stunning spot for a holiday the hotel is very nice and relaxing. The pools are great too and this is a perfect place to go if you are looking to switch off for a few days. If you are also into hiking a great walk around the island too. The rooms were clean, modern and spacious. My only tip if you lose your bag be prepared to pay at the resort store for clothing because these guys charge top dollar for non branded clothing which is no surprise on an island like this! I would come back again!

We spent a week at Hayman Island which was very relaxing. The staff were amazing everywhere we went. Great to see staff from all around the world and so genuinely passionate about what they were doing. Particularly on the various tours which were all fantastic 👌 The only disappointment was the food, really very average and not worth the prices. The breakfast was great but the other options could really do with a rethink.

The place has excellent location, but the service is not good. Untrained staff that is not service oriented, once they have you on the island they have monopoly on your spending. Waited 20 minutes for coffee every morning at breakfast, constant wait for being served at restaurants, and does not even have enough space for all guests for dinner (meaning you need to do takeout). Must be the worst service we have had at a 5 star, which is such a shame because the location is perfect. Resort is also worn down, so you see it is old.
