Great spot between beach and Main Street. Heritage rooms need a makeover, comfortable but looking tired. Fantastic pool/spa. Bar & Buffet breakfast good. All staff friendly & helpful.
We loved our stay at the Mantra Lorne. We stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment with amazing views of the ocean and hills, right across the street from all the shops, restaurants and cafes that the town has to offer. The apartment was warm and cosy and fully self contained and the hotel had many amenities to offer. We would love to return next time we’re in Lorne.
The location is awesome. The pool is fantastic. The breakfast is great. It's just unfortunate that the room we were allocated 129a had a lot of issues. First the shower head falls on me whilst I'm showering and had to be replaced. The sink wasn't draining, the furniture was so badly stained it was disgusting. The light switch in the toilet was stuck and very difficult to use. Every day I swam the clock in the pool area was broken. They replaced the battery and it was still broken. They then actually replaced it with a new one. I think that even though Mantra is renovating this property soon. You can't in the process be charging 4-5 star rates when things are at that level. It's not just a matter of steam cleaning furniture. When an aqua blue couch has turned black with stains all over it. Replace the couch. That is no excuse to wait for the reno. I'm not sure why the Larder has a bad rating our entrees were excellent steak was average. We would come back and stay for the location, the pool, and the breakfast. But we do want to let people know the rooms are tired, in ill repair, and not great value.
Love the Mantra. Rooms are usually good. This one was an accessible room and a bit small but ok for us. Long slow wait in line to check in, but the young man who checked us in was very helpful. Location, right on the beach. Beautiful views, even on a brisk windy day. Short walk to ocean. Star of the Mantra Lorne is the restaurant. All Mantras fo a great buffet breakfast that you can include, we always do. The restaurant also did dinner and the meals the coffee, and the wine were excellent. Five stars for restaurant, the young man who checked us in and the location.
Stayed in Heritage room, very clean and tidy but there are signs of the 100 years of age. It was more interesting than the external apartments and was close to pool, restaurant etc. The hotel compendium was useful and accurately depicted the facility. The location was good but we were well past peak season so Lorne itself was a bit quiet. There is enough going on around the hotel to be still engaging. It's a fair drive to anywhere else but if you want a bit of rest and recuperation then it's great.
