Rydges was a mixed bag for us this trip. Let's start with the good: 1. The staff member who checked us in was brilliant, some of the best customer service I have experienced. 2. The room was unexpectedly large and well fitted. 3. The vibe of the hotel was beyond expectations considering price point. That said, there was an issue we experienced that highlighted some significant cracks. The door frame to the bathroom was splattered with a dried reddish liquid (looked like blood or wine perhaps - see picture). These things can be missed, but potential bodily fluids are not our thing, so we asked for it to be cleaned while we were out in the afternoon. After returning home at 10pm, it was still there, and reception simply said it would be dealt with tomorrow. We asked again in the morning and showed the picture again, and it was promised to be addressed as we went out for the morning. Once again, it was missed, and we had to go to the front desk again to get someone in to clean it. Lots of effort and time from our end for an issue we viewed as a potential safety hazard (especially if it was blood). Overall, it was a great hotel with some issues with issue resolution and cleanliness. Would still say it represents good value for money, but be prepared for some rougher edges.

We had a great weekend away at The Rydges Hotel Canberra. The Superior King room was very comfortable and clean. We enjoyed a swim and relaxing hot spa in the hotel pool and spa before dinner. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Lovely lounge and bar area with gardens and lots of natural light. We will definitely stay at The Rydges Canberra again.

It’s hard to rate the Rydges Canberra. I’ve stayed here a few times now to see if I had one off experiences or not. Keyword for them is inconsistent. It’s had a decent renovation it seems at some point recently, but some design things don’t make sense. The rooms are fine. Beds are extremely comfortable and a big strong point for all Rydges hotels, however the pillows are pretty bad. Overall, they’re comfortable rooms, just a bit bland. Most of the time very clean. The bathroom looks great but the layouts are very odd. Almost all of them, the toilet is immediately next to the shower so it gets covered with water because there’s no door or curtain. There’s also an oddly placed shelf in the shower so you keep hitting your elbow. The breakfast buffet is okay, on a weekend with lots of families though it seems the staff leave it for too long and most things start running empty. Overall taste of food though is decent for a hotel breakfast. The staff are a bit hit and miss. Never anything terrible, some staff are amazing, most just seem to be doing what’s required. Never rude, just disengaged sometimes. The lobby is quite impressive when you walk in, lovely colours, plants and lighting, giving off a vibe of a 5 star boutique luxury hotel. Remember though, this seems to be positioned as a business hotel. It is decently priced for what it is which is a solid 3-4 star business traveller focused hotel in a great location. If they put a bit of love into it, it would be an exceptional hotel pushing the 4-5 star region. It’s not a bad hotel by any means, just not a memorable hotel. I would stay here again from a value perspective, but I go in with low expectations.

We've stayed here multiple times and all times we really enjoy it. The location is great, close to the parliament house, questacon and good restaurants. The buffet breakfast has a nice variety. The rooms are spacious. Comfortable beds. Nice staff. Nice big indoor pool and spa. Would recommend and stay again.

I think it's geared towards govt works and so it's pretty empty at weekends. Our rate was fantastic and we enjoyed the quiet hotel. The only weird part is that your balcony essentially goes onto the internal atrium where music is pushed out. So I could hear music morning and night. Not offensively loud and didn't bother me...just a bit weird to hear music in your hotel room.
