Staff were really lovely, friendly and professional. Even the doormen who kindly safe kept my Opal card that I had accidentally dropped on exit. Great breakfast buffet, convenient egg station. Good value. Very happy with location, ramp access for luggage, cool inviting foyer with comfy lounges where my toddler napped on arrival. Nice comfy bed. Well cleaned bathroom. However carpet had a musty smell to it, which was off putting. The balcony tiles in room 501 were dirty and subsequently my two kids feet went black going barefoot on the tiles. Easy wash off in bath. Disappointing that the hotel doesn't accept cash. My husband and I favor paying in cash. In 2025 it is legal tender- can't fathom how it can be rejected.
We had a great stay at this hotel. The room was clean and comfortable, and the overall experience was very positive. A special mention to Shania, the duty manager, who handled an issue we had with exceptional professionalism. She was friendly, approachable, and efficient, took the time to listen, and ensured everything was resolved quickly. Her positive attitude and customer-focused approach really stood out. We would happily stay here again. Thank you to Shania and the team for a great experience.
Amora Hotel Jamison Sydney I chose this hotel for its five-star rating and excellent central location, and while the location is genuinely great (everything is within about a 10-minute walk, including the harbour area), the service does not meet five-star standards. The main issue is that almost everything comes with an extra charge. For example, I requested the minibar items to be removed as there was not enough space on the table and I had no intention of using the minibar. I was told this would cost AUD 40 just to remove it, which felt unreasonable. In a five-star hotel, basic amenities should already be in the room. Instead, I had to call each time for essentials like a dental kit or shaving kit, which should be standard without having to request them. Another disappointment was that the pool and spa were under maintenance during my stay. This was not clearly communicated at the time of booking. The hotel later said it was mentioned on the website, but it was not visible when I booked. This is something guests should be clearly informed about in advance. The room size was good and fairly spacious, and the bed was acceptable, but again, not at the level I would expect from a five-star hotel. Overall comfort felt more like a lower category. I have stayed in many five-star hotels in different countries, and this experience was not comparable. After a while, it honestly felt like every request might result in an extra charge, which made the stay uncomfortable rather than relaxing. Summary: ✔ Excellent location ✔ Good room size ✖ Service does not match five-star standards ✖ Too many extra charges for basic requests ✖ Poor communication about facilities If you want a hotel purely for location in the CBD, this may work. But if you are paying for a five-star experience, expect to be disappointed. The hotel seriously needs to improve its service and guest experience.
We stayed at the Amora for 8 nights over Christmas and had a fabulous stay. Our corner room had a window with a view in both the main room and the bathroom. We loved how much natural light we had. The room: spacious, plenty of room for 2 people with large suitcases to unpack and settle in. ConsiStent AC that was able to keep up with the 40’C heat we experienced. There was a mini-fridge to keep our water cold and a kettle in the room to make tea (or ramen!). The bathroom: plenty of counter space for toiletries, separate tub and shower, water pressure was excellent, we loved the smells of the complimentary shampoo, conditioner and soap. The staff: absolutely lovely—so considerate and thoughtful. They would open the doors and greet you when entering or exiting the hotel, housekeeping were fabulous and kept us so comfortable. The location: unbeatable. You are SECONDS away from the light rail and Wynyard train station. Equal walking distance from Barangaroo and Circular Quay ferry stations (7-10mins). With all these options, you can get ANYWHERE in Sydney. We loved how central this hotel was—good food and bars literally at your doorstep. We won’t stay anywhere else in Sydney. We loved our stay and were sad to leave!!!
We stayed here for 1 night as our flights were cancelled and needed somewhere to stay until the follow days flight. It's a lovely hotel, staff are amazing, pool area is nice. The spa could use an update. Only negative was some loud lady in the bar tried to tell us we couldn't sit at a table as she wanted it for her tour group. There was no reserved sign so we still sat at the table, she was not a hotel staff member, just a rude loud arrogant lady. Other than that our stay was great.
