Good location, nice room, but missing something special.. Stayed for 5 days.. Hotel is a good location to walk out to the city.. My room (level 24) was a good size, good selection of tea but limited to 3 Nespresso pods of which one was decaf if I remember.. the pillows were awful to sleep on.. as I was checking the room before leaving I found a pillow menu hidden in the drawer. It was so annoying, this wasn’t mentioned at checkin and I struggled for 4 nights. The aircon is also dodgy.. my room was stuck on 18 degrees, first night was like being in a freezer.. maintenance came and fixed it and it went to 23 degrees and was then stuck there. The remote made no difference. The gym was limited, pool area small but looked nice. It rained a lot so didn’t use the pool. The executive lounge was disappointing.. The size was small, always over crowded and you struggled to get a seat sometimes.. the food quality was pretty good but the same every day, except the amazing scones that were only served week day afternoons - not sure why not at the weekend.. the free bar hour was at a strange time 5-6:30 I think, where a later slot say 6:30-8 would have been much better. The breakfast options were good and considering the price of eating out in Sydney these days, the breakfast covered the additional cost of the executive lounge access. The most annoying thing of my stay.. room cleaning seemed to be in the afternoon.. on my checkout day, the cleaner rang the door bell at 8:20am, I was fast asleep, I opened the door and the guy asks what time I’m leaving so he can clean.. I’m not sure if he thought I’d already checked out, but there should be some communication with the cleaners about when you’ve checked out. Due to convenience and price I’d stay here again.
Great location, arrived really early and although check in wasn’t until 15:00 the lady at Reception gave us an access card to 10th floor so we could use the facilities and freshen up, she promised to call as soon as the room was ready as we were really tired after travelling all the way from London and she did call a couple hours before check in time to tell us our room was ready. Really clean rooms and enjoyable stay overall. On our check out day Harry from concierge helped us with our bags to the uber and was super friendly.
Charge you for coffee at breakfast you’ve already paid for. Charge you to change a room from a double to a twin even though occupancy doesn’t change. Room was, as expected, spacious and clean. 5* hotel with a budget feel of wanting to charge for anything out of the box… like a coffee at breakfast 🤯. I travel extensively and this was definitely a first.
After years of working at an Accor hotel, I’m well aware of the standards that they instil into their staff. And for the Swissôtel to have a 5 star hotel this stay was an extremely disappointing stay. I had booked an executive suite for my wedding and had requested it be on a high floor with a lot of natural light as we had makeup artists and hairdressers coming in for the preparation. We were given a much lower floor, not on the executive floors, directly next to the lifts. All night I could hear the lights bang up and down with the door opening and closing. Not what you want the night before your wedding. Whenever we tried to bring anything to your staffs attention it was the classic “I’ll ask the manager” who then apparently went to their manager and so on. We had 7 rooms booked with the Swissôtel across our family and friends, none of which would’ve happened if it weren’t for us staying there to begin with. The majority of these rooms had a distasteful experience. We had contacted the Swissôtel regarding the rooms booked asking if they could do something nice for these rooms ie a welcome card, chocolate plate, fruit plate or something similar as I know they lengths that Accor hotels are able to go to. No one received anything. It was a really disappointing stay for what was meant to be the biggest day of my life. I don’t plan on ever returning to the Swissôtel or recommending it.
One of the best experiences, on par with some of the most expensive hotels world wide, just without the expensive tag. One thing we need while travelling is a good night sleep... I have never had a sleep like this, The bedding is so good that i'm on the website purchasing a full set of linen, It is the absolute best! The staff was always so friendly and concierge team are brilliant! Big thank you to "Rita" our room cleaner,,, The room was always spotless every day! Not one negative comment throughout our stay!
