Stayed here for 3 nights. Loved the atmosphere and the decor. Staff very friendly and rooms kept to a high standard. We will use the pillow menu next time we stay (we didn’t this time and regretted it). Nice pool and spa in the basement. Loved the complimentary refreshing drink at reception. Very handy to the convention centre (just across the road), shopping, art gallery, museum and botanic gardens. Thanks for a great stay.
This hotel is highly recommended. It has been recently renovated and shines with art nouveau elements. The location is great, opposite the train station and the streetcar which goes directly to the beach in Glenelg. The rooms are very spacious and we were given a small bottle of wine as a welcome gift. Our room faced the side street, but we were not unhappy about that in view of the busy North Terrace. And there was a huge bathroom with a walk-in shower and a real bathtub, which I liked to use to recover from the walks. The restaurant is really excellent, but not cheap.
Staff were pleasant and helpful except the room service forgot to give us milk for tea for the last 3 days. Had to request. The beds were nice and firm. Christmas lunch was excellent. Need to update their towels and bath robes. It's too old for a 5-star hotel.
Beautiful hotel. Fantastic rooms. Only caution is if you get a loft room the toilet is downstairs and bed upstairs so might not be for everyone. Lovely pool, spa and sauna. Big gym. And highly recommend the Luma restaurant.. delicious!
Stayed in the hotel for 3 days and have to say it was one of the worst experience ever. On the 2nd day, when we went to the breakfast area, we were told that more than half of the breakfast areas upstairs were blocked and prevented other guests from sitting from 7:00am. The reason given was that it was exclusively available for group booking. Not reservation, just exclusive availability for the group booking clients. Really want to ask a few questions to the hotel management team: 1. Why individual clients and group booking clients are treated differently. If the hotel believes group booking would bring more profits and more important, why not just stop taking bookings from individual clients? 2. If group bookings are in hotel occupying certain resources which individual clients cannot share, why don’t you tell clients when checking in? If we were told about that, we would definitely cancel our booking and choose other options. 3. The female staff who served the breakfast was extremely rude ( not even mentioned anything close to friendly). When we raised the questions, she did not even care answering. Instead, she was trying to humiliate us and tell us that we are not group client booking clients; therefore have no rights to enjoy certain resources such as breakfast sitting area. We were really shocked with her such behaviour which clearly showed she was not willing to serve individual clients. Funny enough, when we finished the breakfast at nearly 8:00am, only one person from the so called ‘ group booking ‘ was shown up and instead, nearly 70% of the upstairs dining area was blocked for the entire morning and none was able to sit in that area. Definitely would not go to this hotel again.
