Reviews for Midnight Hotel Canberra

Stayed at this Marriott Bonvoy hotel in Braddon, Canberra. A fairly new hotel and fine quality. The pool was a plus. This hotel is centrally located in Braddon which means you have heaps of food, dining, cafes and bars on your doorstep. At night this area is quite active and has a nice buzz. The staff were friendly and helpful. LGBT friendly. 🩵

We stayed 2 nights over the weekend. The front of house staff, sommelier, chef were all amazing. Housekeeping of excellent standard.. Made our stay something special! With extra thank you to Maia, who went a few extra miles… not just one!! We would definitely stay here on our next trip to Canberra. Thank you to the Midnight team!

Long slow queues at check-in. Slowest lifts ever encountered in a hotel, consequently too many people using them at once. Advertises daily room service but you have to request it. Room service provided but our original 2 bath towels were replaced with just one. Quality toiletries provided but very small amount comes out of the dispenser at once so it was difficult to get enough. Shower flooded the bathroom. The bedroom was incredibly dark. The darkest hotel room I've ever been in. Very little natural light and the one window looked across the courtyard directly into the room opposite so if the light was one we were on full view of the occupiers of that room and also in view of people in the corridor by the lift. Very noisy extractor fan in bathroom. Very noisy aircon. The tea and coffee making area in the room is unlit and extremely dark. The fridge isn't cold. Only one chair provided. No desk area. The room was small and the wardrobe difficult to access. There wasn't sufficient sound insulation to the corridor. Tbis is NOT a 5 star hotel.

A modern, fresh "boutique " style hotel. Located in the busy restaurant, café, bar area of Braddon. Easy walk to almost everything you need. Worst pick-up / drop-off access ever. Single vehicle, no stopping on the street in front.

They say first impressions count or last. Well that was the unfortunate outcome when staying at Midnight Hotel for 4 nights. On arriving, the hotel is right across the road from a run-down apartment complex with graffiti covered walls and smashed windows and looks like a ghetto eyesore. Once in reception, opinions are soon soothed as the foyer is very nice and smells fresh and vibrant. Unfortunately, we were early to arrive and just wanted to leave our bags and go wander until the room was ready. Asking if we could store our bags and also possibly be notified if any rooms became available earlier than 2pm, seemed like an unreasonable chore for the surly staff member that greeted us and just wanted to object to any request we asked. She finally said that the room would be ready for us around 12pm so we set off to get some lunch, returning about 1pm. Greeted by another staff member, she confirmed that our room was ready and we could check in and proceeded to the first floor in the world's slowest lift service with our bags. Opening the door to find it hadn't been made up, and the room was a mess from previous guests. We went back down to advise staff of this and was begrudgingly given another room and key to a room on the same floor. The rooms themselves are small, quite dark but comfortable and clean and the lookout wasn't to the mentioned graffiti war zone but to a souless courtyard and a view into other rooms, meaning the curtains needed to stay closed the majority of the stay. The room was odd with only one chair in it, meaning any in-room dining if chosen wasn't an option unless you wanted to sit on the bed and eat. The bed and shower were great and the offered free minibar a nice extra. The air con was locked on 19 degrees, so at night, it was stuffy and humid, and the smoke detector flashed like a strobe light all night, was annoying. The room attendants were very efficient and friendly and made sure the rooms were made up quickly each day. Sadly though in the 4 days of the stay, the staff attending the front desk didn't once make eye contact, speak, greet or acknowledge us at any point and were very unfriendly and ignorant even though we came and went past them several times during our day and nights. The front counter check-in staff were probably the least interested hotel employees I've ever encountered staying anywhere. In saying all of the above, the location of the hotel near busy Lonsdale and Mort street eateries, bars, and cafes was great, and this alone was worth staying here. Would I stay here again? Probably yes, due to convenience and location but the staff need to realise that hospitality does require engagement and personality. Braddon food district saves this place just.
