Reviews for Mercure Canberra

This building was the OG hotel when Canberra city was first being established. There was a small book detailing the origins of the hotel in our room with interesting historical photos. Put my mind at ease as I first thought it was a repurposed hospital! Beautiful courtyard in the centre of the buildings. Plenty of secure car parking at the back of the building that can only be accessed with a code given to you when you check in, but it is pay per night, not free. Only downside was wifi was not great, the internet was faster just using our own data, which was fine as we were only there for two days. This hotel is also pet friendly! Saw a few pooches enjoying the courtyard, which was great. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Location is just far away enough from the city centre to not be in amongst it but all of 10-12 minute walk to the main street with restaurants, shops and supermarkets. The room we booked was very spacious and bathroom clean. Only downside with bathroom was shower glass wasn't wide enough so water would get everywhere on the bathroom floor, but this wasn't a huge deal. Overall a good stay.

Very lovely hotel bistro bar areas. Plenty of seating throughout. We had a light dinner Very very nice and large portions. Plenty of choices of drinks. Tables and Chairs at the bistro. Only down fall not a lot of parking if u are only visiting for a meal which we did. I did notice if u are staying at this hotel there is secure parking.

A lovely historic hotel which has excellent staff but starting to look a little tired now. Rooms could do with an update. The old wooden furniture has seen better days. Rooms are a good size and the bathrooms are fine. Very clean and the location is close to everything in Canberra

We stayed over the weekend in a room arranged by DFAT โ ANCHOR for a Naval Warfare training program in Canberra. Upon arrival at around 12:45 PM, we were warmly welcomed by the receptionist. Although check-in was only available from 2:00 PM, the staff handled everything professionally and explained the process clearly. They also informed us about a multicultural event happening over the next two days around Bunda Street, which was very helpful for visitors like us. The hotel is conveniently located near Canberra Centre (about 900 meters or a 10-minute walk). Several key attractions are easily accessible, including: - Australian War Memorial - Anzac Parade - Mount Ainslie Lookout (a great spot to see kangaroos and enjoy city views) The location is ideal for both business and leisure purposes. ๐๏ธ The hotel appears to be quite historic, reflected in its charming classic architecture. Despite the traditional exterior, the facilities inside are modern and well maintained. I stayed in room 41*, located at the corner facing a fish pond. The atmosphere was peaceful and relaxing. The room was spacious, clean, and serviced daily. In-room facilities included: โ๏ธ Electric kettle โ๏ธ Refrigerator & minibar โ๏ธ TV โ๏ธ Iron and ironing board โ๏ธ Hair dryer โ๏ธ Safe deposit box โ๏ธ Wardrobe โ๏ธ Umbrella โ๏ธ Air conditioning and WiFi (both working well) โ๏ธ Reliable hot water โ๏ธ Drinkable tap water โ๏ธ But not all rooms have balconies or microwaves. The hotel also provides: - A gym - A garden area (commonly used as a smoking area) - Restaurant & bar - Vending machines - Spacious parking area Breakfast was enjoyable and offered a good variety. For Muslim guests, options such as different types of bread, hash browns, eggs, and mushrooms are available. It is advisable to check with the staff regarding the ingredients of the sausages. Overall Impression Mercure Canberra is a great choice for business travelers and training participants, offering a strategic location, friendly staff, comfortable rooms, and complete facilities. The combination of classic architecture and modern comfort makes the stay even more memorable. I would gladly stay here again on my next visit to Canberra.

Really friendly staff made our visit very welcoming. The room which we were upgraded into was lovely with a nice garden view. My wife left her purse in the dining room which was quickly returned to us. The location was good and was very close to the war museum.
