Reviews for Ovolo The Valley

My husband and I traveled from Utah, USA and stayed 7 nights here and it was incredible. Every evening, there was a complimentary cocktail hour. The staff is so friendly and helpful to tourists like us. The accommodations were comfortable, clean, modern. It was such a pleasant stay. Their restaurant next door is also so delicious!

My daughter’s favourite hotel! Free lollies in the hall, free mini bar it was such an amazing experience. Clean, great service restaurant down stairs is legendary and the pool super cozy. The experience actually beats the photos!

Nice little place to stay close to shops and the river. The room was very tidy, the pool & sauna on the rooftop were awesome. Would definitely come back.

Loved our stay at Ovolo. The room was very spacious, bed was great, and we think we got so much value with all the inclusions. Staff was also very friendly and helpful, from receptionists to restaurant servers and room cleaners. Would definitely stay here again when we get a chance.

there is absolutely NOOOO WAY this hotel should be rated 5 stars. i have never in my life left a hotel review, but felt the need to leave one here because the ratings here seem inflated or falsified somehow. i checked in with no one to help me carry my 3 bags and basically no information given about the hotel besides my room number. i arrived to a dingy and poorly lit room (207) after a long flight and had 0 water given (even though a hilton gold perk is free water bottles, not that anyone at reception acknowledged i had status). i called reception for water and began unpacking until it was delivered 20 mins later. at this point, i’m finally ready to shower, just to realize the shower smelled like complete shit (sulfuric smell that was SO PUNGENT that i didn’t even hesitate to ask for a room change. usually i will never ask because i feel guilty and embarrassed to have an entire room “wasted” because of a complaint). i called and thankfully they are able to change my room (205). i repack all of my items that i unpacked, and a nice staff member is able to help me carry my bags a few feet away. new room is not as dingy, but the lighting is just so dim that it screams “motel” and i feel like it’s intentionally trying to hide dirt and dust in the room. i tried to turn the desk lamp to face the room for extra light, and my hand ends up covered in dust. lmao now i unpack my items, ready to shower, just to discover that the body towels are mildly damp and the floor towel is rusted - i have never seen this before in a hotel. i turn on the shower and wait around 5-7 minutes for the water to go from room temperature to somewhat warm (this was consistent on the second and third nights of my stay). at least the water pressure is good now, i’ve finally showered the dust from the room off and i get into bed. i can feel every single spring in the mattress. even my college dorm mattress didn’t feel this cheap. at this point, i’m so pissed off that i start considering cancelling my stay. i initially booked this for 3 nights, but ended up having my flight leave brisbane after a 4th night, but i had 0 intention of extending my stay at ovolo and instead booked at an actual 5 star hotel for that 4th night. other things i noticed: neither room had international plugs. room 207’s bedlights were flickering the entire time. room 205’s closet light was flickering, trash can was rusty, and has the front door directly facing the bed which is just bad feng shui. the staff left a birthday card (that was also mildly damp????) and a plate of sweets in 207, but i completely forgot about this until the morning after i had switched rooms, so it went to waste sadly. :( also, wifi doesn’t allow more than 1 device to be connected at a time, i had to call to ask for a second login code and was using 2 different logins for my 3 devices and had to keep logging in and logging out of the wifi on each. again, i have never seen this at any hotel before… also my door lock was broken with the RFID scanner exposed asked for water on the second day because housekeeping didnt restock any. had to call a second time after waiting around for 30 mins for the water to be delivered before i could shower. 45 mins later i finally had water dropped off at my door. went for breakfast on my second day. i waited 40 minutes just for toast, so i had to ask for it to be takeout since i missed my train and needed to run to catch a second one. i would have rather paid to eat outside and receive better service… on the day of checkout, as i was packing my bags, housekeeping OPENED MY DOOR despite the do not disturb sign being on. this is absolutely insane to me because I was leaving around 11am when I’d usually be changing or getting ready, so housekeeping could have easily walked in on me doing that 🥲 would NEVER recommend Ovolo to anyone. if this hotel was advertised as 3 stars and cost half as much and my stay went the exact same as i described, i would just accept it as a fault of me being cheap. but when you book a pricier, 5 star rated hotel, you expect a 5 star room….
