This was my first stay at East Hotel, and while I’m unsure I’d stay here again, I would definitely return for the restaurant and bar alone. The food was a real standout — the pizzas were exceptional and hard to go past, and the bar had a great selection of drinks. It’s a fantastic spot to meet up with colleagues in a relaxed and vibrant setting. Unfortunately, the hotel experience didn’t quite match the quality of the dining. While the customer service was friendly, the room itself was a letdown. It felt consistently cold and never quite warmed up, which made it uncomfortable during a winter stay. Similarly, the water temperature only ever reached lukewarm — both morning and night. For business travellers, the lighting and desk setup weren’t ideal for extended work sessions, especially compared to other accommodation options in Canberra. On the plus side, the room was spacious and comfortable overall. I wouldn’t recommend East Hotel for winter stays, but I’d consider it again in warmer months — especially if dining is part of the plan.
Such a nice hotel. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The hotel has a nice bar (Joe's bar) and restaurant (Agostinis) within its premises. We enjoyed a couple of meals there. The hotel was conveniently located near to the major tourist attractions (Qestacon, National Museum, etc). Would definitely stay here when we next visit Canberra.
I had a couple of nights at East hotel where I attended some training. This was a wonderful experience, the hotel is very nicely appointed, excellent restaurant (Agostinis) amazing showers, quiet rooms which are a nice temperature, complementary sweets and fruit, and a little kitchenette in my standard room. Staff were all very friendly and welcoming. The location is also excellent for a walk to parliament house and surrounding museums. Ubers arrived within 1 minute, and a short 10 min ride to the airport ($20 in an uber). I would definitely recommend and stay here again when next in town. Thanks to all at East for a lovely stay.
Other hotels need to take notes from East Hotel, when it comes to family rooms. I still can't quite get over how amazing our experience was based on the $430 per night rate (bear in mind, it was off peak, but still amazing value). We booked a standard one room apartment with the adjoining kids' cubby - which meant that my husband and I had our own (huge) king suite and our kids had their own (fairly generous) apartment, with its own bathroom, bunk beds and kitchenette. But what really made it special was the kids' cubby being packed with entertainment - an xbox/TV, desk with colouring in (they'd called ahead to ask what our kids were into and the colouring in themes matched!), books, duplo, cuddly toys puzzles, board games!! Getting in from a 3 hour drive to a room filled with activities was an absolute treat - for both parents and kids! It was also very nicely furnished, everything new and immaculately clean. Every other accommodation option I looked at was at least double (in some cases, triple) the cost. I cannot recommend highly enough for families - this will be our go-to for Canberra from now on 👌
Canberra friends recommended we stay here and what a great decision that was. Everything was great about this hotel - ample parking and the studio room had everything we needed including a small kitchenette, bath and shower and super comfortable king size bed. A spacious room with a little balcony and easy walk to Kingston and Manuka shops & restaurants as well as the lakeshore. A special mention to the staff - all extremely personable and helpful. The whole place has a lovely ambience and the restaurant Agostinis downstairs was a great place to celebrate a birthday with friends. Thanks to the hotel for a lovely card and bottle of Prosecco waiting for us in the room. Will certainly be the place to stay for any future Canberra visits!
