Great location but the room was a little disappointing. Booked through Webjet and therefore discounted which I would hope as I would be unhappy to pay the full rate. There was a used plaster/bandaid in the bath which had extensive black mould/stains on the grout. The bathroom was very tired. Sheets were nice but no extra pillows and no extra bedding and we were a bit cold. Yes, we could have asked but not in the middle of the night. Kitchen had very limited basics but no sharp knife. The sofa also needs to be replaced as it was worn out, saggy and uncomfortable. We had dinner in the restaurant one night and it was very good. Check in was very slow but checking out was quick. Not bad overall but I hoped it would have been a little better.
The location was fantastic and the Hotel was beautiful! However room service only made the bed and never took the rubbish away or replenished much needed stock in our room like sugar or toilet paper, even when requested. Need to know is you need to pay $55 per day for parking which is not under or next to the Hotel. You will need to walk to it. Charging us was a complete mess and we are still owed $600 despite calling multiple times and speaking to a manager.
Overall experience was great, however, a day prior to our stay we received an email stating that a $100 aud per night bond is payable on check in. This is in addition to the cost of the room, which was already paid in full. Front end staff did not accept cash as payment for the security and were rude in their delivery, almost as if having to work inconvenienced them. We are now waiting 3 days later to receive the security bond back, and have been informed that this could take 5-10 business days. Would not have booked with this hotel if we knew this was going to be the case.
The Stamford is pleasant, though I would not categorize it as a five-star establishment. Its location is advantageous, being just a short stroll away from bars, cafes, restaurants, shopping, and the theatre. Our interaction with the staff was limited, but they were sufficiently friendly during our check-in and check-out. My husband and I chose this hotel to celebrate our wedding anniversary. In our previous experiences at other hotels for anniversaries, we have typically received special touches, such as a bottle of champagne in our room upon arrival and complimentary breakfast. Regrettably, we did not even receive a simple "happy anniversary" greeting when we checked in. Although we had made reservations for breakfast and parking, we were informed upon arrival that these bookings were not recorded, despite my husband’s clear recollection of making them. The room itself was cozy, quiet, and the beds were quite comfortable. We particularly enjoyed the pool and jacuzzi; watching a movie while relaxing in the jacuzzi made for a delightful evening. While the hotel could benefit from some updates, I overall had an enjoyable stay.
Stamford Plaza Melbourne 11 Apr 2025 – 15 Apr 2025 Message: The whole experience has been disappointing. I can’t believe this place is considered 5 star. On the first day, we were told the room was available, but if we wanted to check in early, we’d have to pay $180 — even though my daughter was sick and I was staying and paying quite a bit for 4 days. Later, when I questioned this, I was told the room wasn’t ready, but it was obvious the manager didn’t want to admit it had been ready early. Instead, I was given a bowl of fruit for the “misunderstanding.” The breakfast was terrible — the coffee was old and shocking. We were told to sit at a table and that someone would come to clean it. The lady in charge yesterday morning didn’t even bother sending anyone — we ate at a dirty table. Today we got back to our hotel room at 2:40 pm and it still hadn’t been cleaned. I’m so disappointed. There is no care or attention to detail in any of the services provided. This hotel should be rated as a two-star hotel at best. I will never stay here again. Please don’t insult me by sending a bowl of fruit. For two days, there was no soap in one of the bathrooms. We had to use hand lotion as soap because whoever filled the last bottle put cream in it instead.
