Pros - We were upgraded to a 2 bedroom villa at check in which was nice. The views were great from the room. There were 2 swimming pools and a jacuzzi but the other pool was closed. Great location - close to wineries and the hunter valley gardens. Cons - I didn't like that the villas were far from reception. The only way to get there would be to drive or request a free shuttle bus. Would have preferred if we were closer to reception. Also, none of the TVs in our room were working and we found a frog in the second room so we did not want to use it. The villa was dated. Not very clean. Found multiple dust bunnies on the carpet, and the bathroom was mouldy and not clean. The TVs in the bedrooms (which were very small - the size of a computer screen) did not have any TV remotes so we couldn't use the TV upstairs. The TV downstairs had a remote but was not functioning. When we told the receptionist of our issues at check out, it felt like she put the blame on us for not saying anything and then gave us stale Tim-Tams as consolation. Could do with better customer service, an upgrade and more thorough cleaning.

Dual rating: 5 for golf course. 2 for lodging and resort. Golf course was outstanding. Challenging holes. Nice layout and very good condition (especially considering heavy rains). Great place to see kangaroo on course. Lodging and facilities - really poor. We reserved a "one bedroom valley view suite" thinking it was the best they had. Lots of problems. Located in the Elysia Wellness Retreat...which is well removed from the rest of the resort and very hard to find. Poor signage and even worse road conditions to get there. Weird ambiance as it is a functional "wellness retreat" and not well suited for casual visitors. One bedroom was actually a studio with a curtain you pulled across room to make a "bedroom." Kitchen was not functional (no pots, pans, utensils, etc.). View was not at all impressive. Would not stay here again.

Stayed here for 3 nights. You are surrounded by nature and can only hear birds and the sound of rain. The food was great. Wine tasting was great. Rooms were spacious and clean. The beds were comfy. The bathroom was nice and spacious. Staff were very friendly. The only area for improvement is the seats in the meeting rooms. They were hard and not suitable for all day sitting. All in all, a high standard, relaxing, and beautiful resort.

We called around 10pm thinking no one would pick up but Christopher picked up and was very helpful. He helped us find a 3 bed villa suitable for 7 people just before Xmas. We’ve got a beautiful view of the golf course with kangaroos and joeys, mountains and wineries in the distance. We also enjoyed the buffet breakfast and coffee machine.

It’s old, it’s tired and it’s dirty and to make matters worse, no one cares. You’re met at reception with staff trying to talk you out of room service in exchange for a $10 bar tab. Stay 5 days and you quickly understand why, one day you get room service the next they don’t turn up, they deliver fresh towels one day and none the next, make the bed then don’t do it. After a week there I have no idea what room service is. The room is dirty, there was a hole in the wall about fist size that had been plastered up but not painted, the grout in the shower was all black, door handles replace with smaller one and the marks from the older still there and the cabinet the TV is in is all wrong and blocked the remote working. In the main building area the pebble concrete is black with lichen that needed pressure cleaning years ago and if you look up when it’s raining the gutters have rusted holes through them from not being cleaned and water pours out into the main entrance. The food, oh I wish Gordon Ramsay would drop by. When they don’t offer a half-n-half pizza you know it’s coming from a packet and what arrives is a gluggy mess under cooked dripping with oily supermarket cheese. The food is bland and just ‘pub’ food done badly so don’t plan any romantic dinners. The staff, oh well let’s keep going, they are young, many seem backpacker types, French and they like their own company way more than the annoying customers they look after. Great golf course, just terrible surroundings.
