We had a fantastic late lunch at the Intercontinental Hotel in Melbourne on Saturday! The building exudes character and the atmosphere was amazing. The food we enjoyed was incredibly tasty! Although we were the only guests in the restaurant that late Saturday, my husband and I will treasure this special time together. Thank you for making our lunch so memorable! Warm regards, Boz and Mark from Sydney
Had an unforgettable experience here at Intercontinental Melbourne! I made sure to use the facilities they had which contributed to my relaxing stay. Rooms and service were top notch! Location is also perfect as it is close to the bus terminal, shopping malls and the CBD
InterContinental Melbourne. Right, so, first impressions? Wow. The facade? Like a grand old dame, all dressed up for a night at the opera. And the lobby? Forget about it. You walk in and feel like you've stepped into a scene from a period drama, all chandeliers and polished marble. Then you get to the room. Oh, the room. It's like stepping into a time capsule, but not in a good way. We're talking carpets that look like they've seen better decades, decor that's screaming for a makeover, and a general vibe that's less "luxury hotel" and more "grandma's spare room circa 1980." Seriously, InterContinental, it's time for a renovation intervention. The bones are there, the location's prime, but those rooms? They're letting the whole show down. Look, if you're into historical charm, you might dig it. But if you're after modern luxury, you'll be sorely disappointed. 3 out of 5, stunning lobby, rooms that need a serious facelift.
I was in this hotel for important event, hotel stars telling you about perfect of everything, but not in my case. For 2000 aud for 3 nights was inappropriate issues such as: mold in the shower on the ceiling and around, a dirty bathtub, the curtain was torn and did not close at night so that the light fell directly on the bed all night, the TV was blinking in the off state and in the morning, going down to breakfast I found that the celery for the juice was not washed properly. In principle, this is the level of a 3-star hotel, but not a 5-star hotel. Of course, I will have to return to this hotel, but now any of my check-ins will begin with a thorough inspection (for which, in theory, people get a good salary), a compliment in the form of 3 fruits and 2 bottles of water cannot cover the negative impression and the filthy first night of stay in the hotel.
My stay was fantastic. Two older buildings combined. My room was large overlooking the atrium between the buildings. King bed with superb IHG linens and pillows. The club lounge is a nice respite, but rather limited breakfast options. My major complaint is the shower faucet. The overhead rainfall is the default, and getting a head/body dousing with cold water is unpleasant. Changing the control to the hand wand is possible via a small pin under the faucet. But. When the faucet it turned off, it goes back to overhead only. Terrible terrible system.
