Very clean, polite staff, nice food. Towels were big and thick, toiletries lovely. My only issue was the paper thin walls and the very low shower. I had trouble washing my hair and I'm not that tall. I also heard every bit of the very good time my neighbours were having.
We stopped at Mercure after another hotel left us in a lurch. My wife uses a wheelchair and the other hotel only had stairs to access their lobby. Mercure has a wheelchair lift from the street and there’s also a ramp along the side of the entrance just up the driveway. Inside, everything is level-entry and there are lifts. The reception staff were very empathetic and helped us not only get a room without a reservation but gave us a free room upgrade and two free drinks each at the bar. They were super friendly and helpful. The non-accessible room was still pretty accommodating. The bed was low enough for my wife to enter and exit on her own. The toilet had enough room for her to lever herself up even without grab bars. The shower was a combo shower/bathtub but the bathtub was so low she probably could have stepped over the side to use it if she had tried. It’s not the best If you need a lot of help, but someone with limited mobility could still use it fine. The rooms feel a bit old but are functional. There is free breakfast in the morning that is quite decent. It’s a reasonable buffet with a lot of options.
Check-in is a different process than what we're used to. You self check-in using a "kiosk" located to the left of reception. I'm assuming you can ask for assistance if you need it (we didn't need it). You also need to tap your credit/debit card so they can take $1 in case of incidentals. Which you get back sometime later after you check-out. The room we stayed in was reasonably clean and quite spacious. The bed is large and comfortable with nice pillows. However, the people who service the room could certainly do a better job. The bottom sheet on most days wasn't even tucked in. Furthermore, I don't recall the carpet being vacuumed once while we were here, and the bathroom was never mopped. Speaking of the bathroom, it is very dated and not much room to move. The shower is situated within the bath and the screen limits the room you have to wash yourself. Also the soap, shampoo and conditioner dispenser really inhibits movement. Also, there is no plug to have a bath and no plug for the sink to shave. Additionally, the cleanliness of the bathroom is not up to standard. The door to the balcony has no lock. I doubt that anyone would be able to get to the door, but you never know! Having said all that, we didn't hear any noise from outside and most of the staff were friendly and easy to approach. There is plenty on offer for breakfast and it was very fresh and tasty. Would I stay here again...yes, I think I would.
Sure! Here’s an updated feedback for Mercure Hotel Perth: --- I recently stayed at Mercure Hotel Perth and had a wonderful experience. The hotel's central location made it incredibly convenient to explore the city, with many attractions, shops, and restaurants within walking distance. The room was clean, spacious, and well-appointed with all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. The bed was especially comfortable, ensuring a good night's sleep after a day of sightseeing. One of the highlights was the friendly and attentive staff, who went out of their way to make sure our stay was enjoyable. They were always available to offer recommendations and assistance with any queries we had. The breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of delicious options, catering to different dietary preferences. The on-site restaurant hop & huddle also provided a great dining experience with a pleasant atmosphere. Overall, our stay at Mercure Hotel Perth was fantastic, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and convenient place to stay in Perth.
I'm not normally one to leave a poor review as I understand how difficult customer service can be to keep up with customer expectations. However, I would recommend avoiding this hotel like the plague. There were no redeeming features. Poor service at check-in, a complete lack of core service offerings (no laundry service, in-room phone did not work, no hair dryer, room service came in foam containers, no housekeeping service during my stay) poor room amenities and no care upon check-out. Definitely not a hotel that lives up to the Mercure brand. I can see from other reviews that holiday makers enjoyed the hotel, but this hotel is not fit for business travellers that require certain amenities.
