I've stayed here on 2 occasions within the past week, the location is fantastic, the secure carpark underground was just that - very secure, as i drove down from Newman & had bikes in the back of my Ute. The standard King was a huge room with big windows wrapping around the corner of the building with city street views. there are enough tv channels, movies, sports, news & casting options to keep everyone happy. the gym on the 12th floor was clean, had some big mirrors & enough room & equipment to maintain the rig, then to top it all off if u take the spiral staircase to the "Rest & Recharge" room you'll be blown away by the views of the river & Langley park!
Even before we arrived the staff were very helpful , 3 short phone calls with clear concise answers to my questions leading up to our arrival. Check in was a fast efficent experience , Max was a star. When we got to our room , the view was brilliant. In the room the cleanliness was unsurpassed, everything was spotless. I thoroughly satisfied with our stay , many thanks to the awesome team of staff. See you again.
- Front desk, I have booked early check-in at 8am, which I informed the staff, However, the other staff on the next desk, immediately responded, we have high occupancy yesterday, we might not have room available for you, our early check in time is only at 9am. Straight away, I said No, as I received a confirmation email that said 8am, she still continues, is the early check in price you paid is 99.99 AUD right? The check-in time was 9am. I have to show her and read from my email that it is written at 8am. She then change her subject that , okay, but now it’s 7.30am it’s subject to room availability. I don’t mind waiting till 8am, but I don’t think this is a good way to respond from the front desk staff. I also work in hotel industry, if I haven’t paid for early check in and I have arrive early, I don’t mind waiting. But this is 30mins different, it would be better if she apologise on her timing mistakes and just let the staff that supposed to check me in do his duty. - Room 720 - good size for 2 pax. However, A/C is not working and TV couldn’t change the channel. I didn’t inform during stay because the weather cold during night and I’m out during days. Would be good to send engineers to fix this.
The location is great, walking distance to the CBD. The room was clean, the sheets & towels were clean. The mini fridge was empty and had no freezer compartment and the shelves weren't aligned and the curtains were dusty. I found the room service staff were lovely. However, the front counter staff weren't very helpful, issues with the key not being registered even though I check with them before hand, wasn't told that the restaurant was closed, or how to go about ordering room service thats booked to the room instead of up front credit card payments. The customer service and information about basic things was lacking. Also, the lifts, every lift was dirty, had multiple smears of something over the buttons, the floor and walls, over multiple days.
Check in was smooth however when I asked regarding the upgrade it was confirmed but no charge mentioned. When checking out I was told I still had to pay for the upgrade. Our room was spacious however getting in and out of the spa is quiet dangerous as there is no step. Our mattress seemed overly firm with a "topper" laid across the top. It did feel like an older room in need of some updating especially seeing the cracked surface on the spa. The room was more than sufficient but the window adjacent to the bed had only block out curtains so they were either fully closed or open with no filter curtain. Breakfast was said to be worth $140 for our stay however when we arrived we saw it was reduced to $25 per person. Our first breakfast saw a 25 minute wait for coffee which I had to remind them to make. Our second morning was a wait exceeding five minutes for someone to take our room number and admit us. Staff were pleasant but not always cheerful with minimal interaction and on check in and check out, minimal eye contact. Novotel certainly had the best value of all the hotels we looked at.
