Location is great - right in the heart of the city - but that comes with a lot of noise and a clock tower that goes off from 6:45am on weekdays. There was an alarm constantly going off outside my room too - I did end up moving rooms but my new room could still hear it (just not as bad). Room and bathroom were spacious but with general amenities - powdered coffee and general tea bags. Hotel employees were pleasant but the service was extremely slow. Took a while to check in, and then when checking out had to wait for something to be brought down from housekeeping which took about 45mins! Ridiculous.

Location is great. Easy to walk to shops and nearby restaurant. My room only had 1 side table and lamp so the lighting was a bit dark when trying to work. Also, there was no hot water on my final morning. Concierge staff were really helpful with directions to local places.

I stayed at this hotel for one night to attend an event in the city with my partner. The positives: good location, comfy and well-made bed, spacious room. The negatives: only one person at reception (so no point in having an accour plus card). The lights in the bathroom are white and dimmed, making it feel like an old hospital. The room lights can only be switched at the main entrance, which is weird and uncomfortable. The breakfast, even at 50% off, offers neither value nor quality. There was a long and awkward wait at the front desk restaurant to let us in, and they had to call reception before ketting us in. The hotel needs renovation and probably should drop a star.

Sadly the tradition of Australian hotels overinflating their self-appointed rating continues with the Brisbane Pullman. The Pullman describes itself as a 5-star hotel - it is 4 at best based upon the extremely poor level of service it offers. I received the obligatory phone call the day before asking what time we would be checking in and was told the suite would be ready. We arrived almost an hour after that time courtesy of our flight being late. Despite being an hour late the room was still not ready and we had to go and find somewhere to sit and wait. We then had to wait another 30 minutes for the bags to be delivered to the room. We were on the somewhat grandiosely named executive floor yet there are no executive facilities anywhere in sight. Previously there had been an executive lounge which was perfect for small informal meetings. This closed during COVID and has not been reopened. Once again COVID is used as an excuse to cut back on services but keep charging the same prices. We opted for dinner in the restaurant on the first night and ordered the grossly overpriced steak. What we got for $65 was a thin minute steak, watery puree, and a sprinkle of overcooked vegetables. Do yourself a favour and go across the road to the PigNWhistle and get twice the meal for two-thirds the price. Deciding to forgo the restaurant on the second night we decided on room service. This seemingly simple task of ordering room service took almost an hour as we did not have access to the room service menu via QR coding (a lazy idea and inappropriate for older guests) We tried ringing room service - no answer, we tried ringing the restaurant - no answer we even rang the concierge desk and got no answer. We had to resort to using the hotel's chat facility to contact anyone. The staff seem to have this uncanny knack of disappearing when you need something done. This would not have been an issue if one of the many requests we made for a room service menu to be delivered to the room had occurred. It is pointless for staff to be polite and pleasant if no one follows through. Interestingly there is a sharp dichotomy between the general hotel staff and the staff assigned to functions. We have had numerous functions at this hotel and the staff are prompt, efficient, and professional. They have a completely different attitude to the rest of the hotel staff. It is like dealing with a separate business. Part of the problem is most undoubtedly the shared facilities with the Mercure - you cannot have two distinctly different hotel experiences side by side and expect there not to be a drift down in standards towards the poorer cousin.

We arrived and waited 40 mins in a line to check in. The hotel room was not properly cleaned and not maintained at all. The shower is a massive hazard as all the water runs down the window and onto the bathroom floor. One has to then use the towel provided to dry the floor, however as there's just so much water, you have to then rinse the towel and dry again, and again. This is not a nice experience at all and one does not have time for this considering I was there for a conference with a full schedule. There were no hangars in the closet on arrival, and when I called housekeeping/reception for the hangars, it arrived more than two hours later... again, having to attend a conference however not able to hang any business attire. The hotel doors aren't properly maintained and therefore slams all day and night long which ensures a horrible night's sleep. My door was also left open by housekeeping, leaving all my belongings vulnerable. The Aircon does also not work. You cannot turn it up from 17 degrees. I will no doubt stay here again, especially given the price charged.
